You are so wrong. Coaches work for the AD and the school district, no matter how successful they are or had been as is the case for this coach. The current girls and boys teams at that school are awful, so he was not "still putting out a solid product". Even if he were though, coaches are not autonomous. They have a boss, and that is the AD, and the AD has a boss. Coaches are at the end of the line when it comes to their teams. And, that's the way it should be. Coaches can write up some rules and disciplinary action, but it only means anything if the AD and Principal sign off on it. Again, that's how it should be.
