Nice!
AWESOME! Maybe they'll have make a donation in your name to the Human Fund, "Money for People"
Good job LR.
Maybe Sara will give you a shout out.
Nice but the guys got screwed. Kipchirchir said he could have made his move earlier but he knew they were going to catch the lead women anyway so he waited. They may have been able to go 8+ seconds faster.

It doesn't sound like anyone had to give back the money, so I'm not sure how they're getting screwed.
We should forgive the USATF for this small $10,000 error. It is probably the only major mistake they have made at a national roads championships in at least three months.

This is socialism at its worst: Let's take prize money away from faster runners and give it to much slower runners. I can't think of anything more unamerican.
They aren't taking anything from him though.

You obviously do not know what socialism is.
Carry on with your day.
Classic hardloper. Can barely read.

Nice job, Letsrun. I'm glad to see Sara Hall get the bonus. She's a great runner.
I'm also impressed with the race for being upfront about the mistake and making things right. So often, you get evasion and BS when people make mistakes like this.

I know people love knocking the USATF, and they usually deserve it, but in the press release the executive director of the race takes responsibility for the mistake. It was not a USATF official.
So what we're saying is that USATF is not accountable for the timing of a USATF championship?

"Accountable"? Meaning what? I was responding to the poster who said "It is probably the only major mistake they have made at a national roads championships in at least three months." Local races bid to hold USATF road championships that are put on as part of an existing race. The mistake in this case was made by someone from the local race. If there were mistakes at earlier national road championships at other distances the mistakes weren't made by the same people.
always good when someone over six minutes slower gets equal money. good job!
You can try to blame it on local organizers but this kind of stuff happens every year at USATF events.

Thanks. I will admit to being a tiny bit miffed that their press release said "after race officials discovered a mistake". They didn't discover anything. I did.
Perhaps they didn't mention us as they may have been miffed because I offered to not publicize anything in return for $5,000 ;) (that's a joke people).

Does anyone have the Hall's address? I need to send them an invoce for the standard 15% fee that an agent would get.
Another joke people.
On a serious note, this whole episode proves one of my maxims about the sport to be true - you really don't even need to watch the races to know what is gong on. Being a fan of the sport is largely about the anticipation of an event and then the analysis afterward. That's why I've always said I don't need a drug test to know that certain people are on drugs - of course they are.
I didn't even watch the race. I just was analyzing results afterwards and realized something that no one who was in the race realized.
