He is a great quarterback. I was a big fan but have lost alot of respect now. As a runner girl yes, I am very offended.

Newton did at least come out with one of those “I'm sorry if you were offended...’’ non-apology apologies.
It has nothing to do with how I perceive her question.
It has everything to do with how Cam perceived her question.
Personally, I would not have thought twice about it. But then again, I'm not a professional football player that has been giving interviews for 6 years. It is obvious that he is not used to women asking him that kind of question or he would not have reacted that way.
In today's world everything gets blown out of proportion. Thanks social media.

Hey Pookie first time caller long time listener. Just a real quick question. How about ya boy Michael Bennett being proven to be a race baiting liar? Haven't heard a thing from you on it. Go ahead, I'll hang up and listen.
Your namesake is a 2x Obama voter who plays a conservative pundit because he found a way to make a living off of it.:

I'm not sure "offended" is the right word. I'd never heard of the guy, and some idiot making a sexist comment doesn't offend me; it just makes me roll my eyes and think he's an idiot. It's not just what he said but how he said it that makes me think he is a sexist idiot, though apparently an athletic one.
If Galen Rupp or Meb or some other male runner, especially an American, said something like this to a knowledgeable female reporter, it would bother me a lot more, since I actually care about running.
We in Europe don't care about this american football shit.
Your post is disgusting.
She asked a simple question. There was nothing about male/female in her question.
His response was awful. It was almost like he was getting off on it. What does the sex of the person have to do with the question? Zero. Cam brought it into play.
You act like she had some elaborate play here. You wrote.
What lenghty twitter tirade did she go off on? From looking at her twitter timeline, I see one post she made about it. Am I missing something? She wrote.
https://twitter.com/JourdanRodrigue/status/915682599326162945Let's imagine for a second that this was an issue of race and not sex.
A black reporter asks Tom Brady a question about one of his receiver's routes and then Brady replies:
“It’s funny to hear a black reporter about routes,†Newton said, laughing to himself and then repeating, “It’s funny.â€
I imagine Brady would be have been suspended from the NFL immediately.
Sexism is real.
It's kind of actually why i don't get the obsession with all the damage racism has done to this country. Yes the country has a racist past but we also had sexism in the constitution on Day 1 as well.
wipipo gon wipipo. yall dont even know what 'runnin routes' means in baller language do you? dats why it WAS funny as hell!!! yall need to check your white privilege and get the hell on.
Cam Newton was a Cougar
I find it cute when women get petty. You sound a tad jealous.

I'm a female and I'm not offended. I'm also not offended, nor do I think it's sexist, to be called honey or sweetheart. People need to stop being offended at every little thing.
So you would not be offended if someone insinuated you can't be good at your job because you are a female?
No I don't care about football, let alone what cam newton says
She should be thankful she gets to wander around the locker room looking at the nekkid athletes instead of delivering beers to losers at the Hooters down the street.

Fixed.
I was offended and I am a guy.
I am offended that a guy can be such a f%$king idiotic and earn 21 million dollars a year. That after all these years a comment the very notion of such a comment doesn't get stopped at the checkpoint before it even gets close to the tip of his tongue is simply astounding.
Cam Newton just deserves to be punched in the face. Really.
Yo Cici! Keep jawing!

I think it's great he's getting this much attention, even though it seems kind of negative at the moment. When was the last time a Canadian distance runner was interviewed in national television? Furthermore, it's not surprising he didn't handle the question all that well -- he was probably nervous, and I doubt if he knows much about American football anyway. They should have just asked him about his training. He seems like a nice guy. I think this will all settle down, and I think he will run a fast marathon sometime soon, and everyone will be OK with him again.
I think I speak for all white men when I say we have severely damaged this nation and oppressed and harmed women and minorities. Cam Newton is just an expression of that ugly toxic white male culture that keeps others down. Any man defending such a disgusting statement should be viewed as suspect.
