For real.
She goes out and runs every distance under the sun and does pretty well. She's at a lot of the US Championship events, she's usually at the track Olympic Trials. Personally, I'd rather race a crapload and have good results than train forever for one race and roll the dice on injury or weather affecting the result. Just race, baby! Have fun, get out there, travel, be amongst your fans.
If I could have the career of one pro runner, it'd be Sara Hall's

I completely agree. she has had a very long career, lots of races at different differences. doesn't seem to be scared to jump in anything and mix it up. polar opposite of her spouse.

Polar opposite?? Disagree. Nobody liked to "mix it up" more than Ryan. My image of him will always be right up there, out in front, leading a pack of East African elites. And as for Sara - major props. And not just for her running chops, but for her motherhood efforts. You go girl! -
Amen to that bruvvah.

i'm referring to her frequent racing, at various distances. Ryan would rarely race. -
I noticed she has competed at outdoor nationals in 5 different events if you include the OT marathon. I doubt anyone else has ever done that. Not even 4. This also reflects the fact that she never found a single event she was the top in the USA at, just decently good at a range of distances.

Wonder if any of their Ethiopian adopted girls have any talent in running?

I don't know about 5 events (there was no steeple or 5K), but Francie has by far the best range of any American woman ever:
Personal Bests: 800 – 2:00.22 (1976); 1500 – 4:05.09 (1976); Mile – 4:27.52 (1979); 3000 – 8:50.54 (1985); 2 miles – 9:38.1i (1981); 5000 – 15:15.2 (1988); 10000 – 31:28.92 (1991); Mar – 2-27:35 (1991).
(and she was indelibly drug-free, unlike much of her competition at the International level, as I feel that Sara has been also)
The nod goes to Francie on this.

Those Frisco runners like Sara Bei are awesome!

It’s all about making the Olympics. That is something Sara will never accomplish. Great range and versatility but never able to reach the highest level of performance.

Mary Decker says hello. At one point She was the number 1 women in the world from 800m to 10000m. Also, she is the only american athlete to have american records from 800m to 10000m. and she set WR at 10000m, 5000m, 3000m and 1500m.
I don't mean to be rude, but sometimes I feel some of you guys started watching T&F yesterday. -

Well...I can't really say it's a BAD choice, but...really?
Even over, say, Jenny Simpson?
Another American woman of similar age, has raced everywhere in the world at a bunch of distances and had great success at every level. Has lots of fans who adore her. Not to mention a bunch of medals and US titles. -
And the marathon says "Hello, you benighted, cretinous crustacean." RANGE, moran, R-A-N-G-E
Also: T/E ratio

That is range on top of range! and WR and AR on top of that. Just because you run those distances does not mean anything if you're not actually good at all of them. Decker was at the top in all of her distances.
As far as the peds go, please. That happend when she was 37 years old, and athletes dope. So get over it.
peace. -
10,000m: same PRs. Marathon: Francie 2:27, MARY DNS
ADVANTAGE LARRIEU

LOL. please list Sara Hall's AR and WR across all those distances.
Decker:
Gold medal at the WC in the 1500m and 3000m
WR holder in the mile, 5000m, and 10000m
IN total, she set 17 official and unofficial world records. She set 36 national records from 800m to 10000m.
That is range, bro. She is the queen of range. period. -
Mate, where do you come from? I love your motivation. I really do. So we are cool.
