Around 9:40 Eliud gives it his all to beat a (now unknown?) quatar runner no doubt from Kenya...Kipchoge gave a good chase to Bekele early on too.

ZT in 2nd as well. Looks like Shaheen got rode hard and put up wet.
Well there's a reason why KB has the longest streak of Long and Short course XC championship wins in history. Eliud went out too hard and hit his anaerobic threshold too early. Couldn't follow through in the end.

The Qatari a Mr. Abdallah Hassan, formerly Kenyan Albert Chepkurui.
Back then Kipchoge was more like Haile. He would give it all he had and when he someone proved too strong to him, he would run himself literally to the ground both physically and mentally. He wasn't content with second or third place.
Based on Berlin this year and his losing streak in the Marathon, I guess he is totally OK with it now?

He thoroughly broke people.
Also, that must have been one hell of a course because it looked like virtually no one had anything left to kick at the end. Most were finishing single file. They just wanted to be done.
Yeah. He should of known that. Next time he should keep note. I hope he doesn't make that mistake twice. Hit your anaerobic threshold too early once shame on you hit your anaerobic threshold too earl grey tearly twice shame on you again.

Nah, he hit the curves not optimal and bc of this hit 4 mmols too early on. Went 3 meters per curve longer than Kennster in the first 10k. Each lap had 12 curves, so 12 x 3 meters x 5 loops = 180 (!!!) meters more!
If I plug in the calculolator, I get he wouda have run 27:10 for the 12k.
If he ran even pace without surges he couda gone 25:13,4 for the 12k that DAY!!!!
If in race with wabbits, even faster.
GOAT!!!
Don't forget the wind, it was gusting straight at EK. 6s x 5 = 30s
24:43.4 for 12k!!!
KB ran through 1.5" of mud puddles while EK ran through 3.5". 5 x 2s (at least) = 10s
24:33.4 for 12k!!!
Snarf, gurgle, tangent, six lane track, squared drafting. 1:39, 3:24.
Is this a joke???

It's a horse term. When a horse(usually not in great shape) is ridden to exhaustion and then just left in its stall with no recovery or cooling out done.
Interesting to see guys in a top level event basically finishing like hobbyjoggers.

Saint Etienne 2005 was a course designed (probably not deliberately) to destroy the rhythm.
Kipchoge was either barefoot or only had one shoe left.

Yes, there were HUGE mud patches during that race.
Bekele there looks like a F locomotive, like he's on a battery. The he was back then nobody could even get close to him.
