I've been watching the Bears-Packers games this evening. I could not stand Romo nervously trying to fill the gaps, it sounded like he didn't know what to say and used a lot of filler words. He does a lot better when the action is fact rather than slow.
But, to his credit, he has some insights on the game that I never have heard from a commentator. He is predicting the defensive plays, the offensive plays, where runner will go, where the open man will be, what penalty may have occurred. I can't remember a commentator that is as sharp as Romo when it comes to the strategy and gameplay happening on the field. I like what he offers in the broadcast booth and can understand why he got the job.
I wonder if he will keep this up or if his knowledge is just fresh from being an active player so recently.
Thoughts?
