Actually, he asked if he should just man up and stick to the big race. To be explicit, I think that he should just man up and stick to the big race. In the event that his worst fears are realized and the weather conditions are less than perfect, he can bail on the day of the race, either before or during the race. If he doesn't care about the legitimacy of the race time, he can choose one of the downhill courses that have been recommended, although I don't know whether Fukuoka accepts times from those particular races.

Runnerchx44 mentioned Whistlestop which you first stated was the only post. Changed your mind? Or did you forget?
Try to learn to read. I said one mentions other races and one mentions Whistlestop. Then I said I don't count the Whistlestop one because it sounds like it's from a race director.
You said "several" which means "more than two". Obviously that was inaccurate.

Still to far out to worry about the weather. Anything forecast's more than 5 days out are guesses. Conses builds at 5 and a solid forecast happens 3 days out.
This is correct. Stay the course.

I can't stand racing in the heat more than anyone, but this forecast isn't that bad. In fact, there's a better than 50/50 chance the weather for any other potential race would be worse. Dew points in the 40's and temps in the 50's to start. That's pretty damn good.
Well since I originally signed for this race and not running it, I’m sure the weather will be perfect for you guys now...😎 I ran Chicago 10yrs ago. Good luck to all!

There are 15 posts after the OP. ONE mentions other possible races (and one sounds like it's the Whistlestop race director promoting his own race... so I'm not counting that one).
That is hilarious that you think I'm the race director. I'm just some girl who lives in the upper peninsula of Michigan who has done the whistlestop half, and have had plenty of friends run the full and PR/BQ there. But if you want to presume that I'm the race director based off of.. I don't even know what you are basing it on lol... go for it! I still say it's a good regional alternative that could be driven to from Chicago.

You are a damn dirty liar! There are no women on LetsRun. That is a proven fact. Either submit pictures or admit that you are indeed the race director!
I live in chicago as well. I would just run the Chicago marathon. There will be a breeze coming off of the lakefront, so there will be some coolness. Plus there will be plenty of shade from the buildings in certain areas.
Don't chase a race or the race. Let it come to you, so do Chicago.

0/10 for trolling on your first post.
I no you are new hear, because no LRC regular believes a woman can upload pictures online.
October 8th. OP must have thought it's this weekend.

Toronto Waterfront is another option two weeks after Chicago. Closer to you, maybe Detroit or Des Moines one week after Chicago? I really know nothing about those races though or the quality of the fields.
I've run the Toronto Waterfront Marathon a few times, and Detroit once. Toronto's a faster course, and you *should* be okay looking for others to be running 2:32-2:35; although definitely not a huge amount, and it might be hit or miss:
For example, 2016's race had three 2:34:xx finishers and two 2:33:xx finishers. In 2015 there were four at 2:35:xx and two running low-2:33, but *nobody* between 2:33:20 and 2:35:05, so you never know. It's a more competitive race at the faster end than most people realize: the 2016 winning time was 2:08:26 and included a dozen people under 2:15 and almost 40 under 2:35; not that bad for a race that has well under 4000 finishers. It's not a huge race by any means.
Regardless, it's a very flat slightly changed new course, the weather is generally cool enough most years, and the only issue to worry about is wind, as it has been a problem some years (it is run very close to Lake Ontario for much of it, after all).
I'm shooting for Columbus 10/15 and there is almost no chance it will sell out, making it possible to register on race weekend after you've confirmed good weather. My fall back is the Hamilton, Ontario Marathon 3 weeks later - another fast course, medium size with reasonably priced registration and hotels. Both races are geographically advantageous for you.
weather.com has marathon day as 79 degrees as the high with a 60 degree low.
bottom line: too warm but not outrageously bad.

Posting my photo online to strangers is a tad too creepy. As someone who has the strictest privacy settings on all of her social media accts, posting a pic on a message board is a definite no. Sorry! Guess you can go on thinking I'm a race director.

I've seldom seen a pre-race forecast that was accurate only three days from the race. It is way too early to decide to pull out due to warm weather.

So that makes him an "idiot"? What age are you? And ending a sentence with a comma speaks to you being the idiot here.
