Only in the marathon, there had never been more than 4 Kenyans better than rupp at 5&10k, he also beat 2/3 of their marathon team last year....

rupp was in medal contention in every race he ran on the track for years(2012-2016), has two Olympic medals and was more consistent than anyone from Kenya over that time

Are we talking a real marathon without pacers (Olympics, NYC, Boston) where one is looking to win or for position,or one of those fake, ultra flat marathons with hordes of pacers like Berlin and Amsterdam where the goal is to reach certain times? Because in the real marathons, Rupp is in the top 5.
Some are suggesting that a lot of the Kenyans don't even know of Rupp. That has to be a smokescreen. I would think that Rupp's association with Mo would've been enough to know his name. Never mind what he has accomplished on the world stage.

There are some people on here that just hate Rupp and will never admit how good he is. So what's the point of this thread? Isn't the subject line a good hint? Sure Rupp has an impressive list of accomplishments, and has taken a few East African scalps, but the original question was, do Kenyans consider him enough of a threat to merit mentioning his name in the "Daily Nation"? Do they know him, and just not respect him, or do they ignore him at their own peril?I guess you have to ask a Kenyan -- and it seems like a couple have answered this already.Regarding Rupp's talent as an American, I think he has a good chance of beating Hall's record-legal 2:06:xx times, but to think he can mix it up with 2:03 and 2:04 runners is wishful fan talk.I think if they both try, Rupp has more potential at the marathon then his NOP training partner, Farah.That doesn't mean Rupp can't win a few races, and medals against faster runners -- Meb showed us that a 2:09 runner can still win hardware, and take some scalps.
