Some pretty mad former NFL fans:
Sorry, when the blacks players start to protest to killing of blacks in inner cities by other blacks, then I will believe they care. Right now they are just grandstanding and playing the victim, all while being paid millions to play a GAME.
More black kids are killed by other black kids very year than anything or anyone else, where is the outrage? Your society sucks, fix it.
Dude did three tours in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger. That qualifies for hero status in my book. Nothing wrong with players having their pet causes, but if there intent is not to disrespect members of the military as they claim, then they need to find a way to make their statement other than by outward signs of disrespect during the national anthem. Intent or not, they are disrespecting these brave men and women and their families and friends.
That being said, their message is uninformed and the players have very little understanding of statistics. Blacks account for 49% of murders, 55% of robberies and 34% of aggravated assaults. However, they only comprise 30% of those killed by cops (this has declined from about 50% during the 1970s, so it is a problem that has been declining for decades). In general blacks are 7 times more likely to murder someone than whites, and about 12 times more likely to kill a white person than the other way around. This despite the fact that whites are more than twice as likely to own a gun (41% gun ownership vs. 18% gun ownership). Whites gun owners are more than 3 times more likely to kill themselves than to kill another person (77%/23%) whereas black gun owners are more than 4 times more likely to kill another person than themselves (81%/19%). The statistics do not support their argument.
An error occurred during rise of labor unions. I am supportive as one would assume of labor organizing in private sector. Empirical evidence proves labor unions in private sector improved the lives of ALL WORKERS in and out of unions. Public sector unions NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALLOWED. Those in public sector unions are organizing AGAINST the PEOPLE. Police unions are the strongest of all public sector unions. Police unions decide WHEN to use deadly force. Police unions decide WHAT is deadly force. Police unions decided, "Fear for my safety" is a defense which may be successfully used by all in law enforcement.

C. The argument generalizes the actions of a few members of a group as representative of the group as a whole.

Fans yesterday wanted to see NFL talking heads react to Trump. Fox 11am NFL show, +30%. Fox NFL Sunday, +9%. CBS' The NFL Today, +33%.
The ratings for the games yesterday were the highest of the season.
As a foreigner I have always greatly admired the First Amendment of the US Constitution, it is something to be cherished apart from the obvious point of you never know when you will need its protection. Drawing personal lines of where it should stop shows that someone hasn't understood it.
If you don't think there are groups trying to reduce inner city black on black violence then you are actively striving to be ignorant.

Some conflicting data to yours:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/20814945/preliminary-tv-ratings-sunday-nfl-games-compared-last-yearYour three tours for Uncle Sam do not make you smart! Your three tours for Uncle Sam mean you can climb a 30 foot rope. Your three tours as an Army Ranger means you can climb a 30 foot rope with 60 pounds of gear on your back. Your three tours for Uncle Sam means you were too foolish to get out after tour #1.
Part of the protest is due to the song/poem, Star Spangled Banner. The third verse many historians have decided is highly racist. Some defend the third verse of Star Spangled Banner. Defending the third verse as benign ignores the other writings of Frances Scott Key.
Black people and those who support black freedom can choose to comment how blacks in US are policed. You do support the freedom of speech rights of black protesters and others sympathetic to the cause don't you?

I support everyone's freedom of speech, it is one of the founding principles of this country and one of the first things written into the constitution. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from ridicule and if you are using your free speech at a place of business and your business suffers as a result of your speech, then your employer has the right to fire you. There was a 10% drop in ratings yesterday after the protests. This will make all of their contracts and the value of the league as a whole worth less as the TV contracts will be worth less when they come up for renewal. Support our troops and our police and take a knee on the NFL this weekend.

I am sure there are, and there should be, it is a serious problem.
What I don't see, is the high profile complainers addressing that problem. I am guessing it doesn't fit their agenda, in that area they are unable to play the victim. Who they gonna blame?
Why isn't Colin K. protesting black on black crime?
This just means that I'll continue my 5 year boycott of the NFL. Just like I'm boycotting the NBA, professional soccer, cricket, Australian rules football, and slopestyle skiing.
Take that NFL! You'll be sorry!!!!
ComedyRelief: As a current or former Army Ranger, you should know a few things about Psych Ops. Standing for Star Spangled Banner is a Psych Ops Campaign by DoD. DoD and NFL signed a huge contract on or about 2009. NFL agreed to allow DoD to use significant amount of military display at NFL games as a not so subtle form of recruiting for troops. Before 2009, it was player optional to come out of locker room for Star Spangled Banner. We, as US citizens try to be aware of Psych Ops done by foreign governments onto US citizens. US does Psych Ops on their own people also.

I am not Colin K. so I can't answer that - you should ask him (though it seems as though you've already convinced yourself that you know his reasoning).
Your doing a poor job pointing out supposed hypocrisy.
