61:29 at halfway, which I think is fine. That's right on WR pace, and five of the last seven world records set in Berlin were negative splits. They can definitely hammer this home.

This is fun to watch. 44 seconds slower than they (mainly Kipchoge) were hoping for. I think this will prove to be better than running 60:45. That would've been suicide pace.

Still faster through 20k than Kimetto was. Dang. Despite this rain.
Canadian stream: "Half in 61:29, roughly the same as Kimetto [previous WR]"
...
"Would you believe it, we are hearing from the studio that they are on pace to exactly match the current world record."
Yes, hard to believe unless you can do first-grade math.
Looks like there's still loads of potential here, right on pace at halfway. One pacer out, two still up front.
You could see it coming a few minutes back. Bekele getting gapped.

Bekele looks much thinner than he has in recent years. I think he's going to take this.
I'm leaning toward kipchoge.
Bekele is dropping....
So is this Alex Milne guy a glitch or is he really on 2:05 pace?
Bye Bekele
22km in Bekele is dropped. Bekele is running a few meters behind. He's about 3 seconds off the pack at 22.41 km.
Part one of the Bekele drop and recover is underway.

Still +5sec off WR.
But the first half is generally slower than the 2nd. Well within reach!
Oop there goes Bekele
Bekele now getting gapped. Is this for real or a patented "Bekele fakeout"?
Yup bekele off the back!!!

And now he's getting dropped.
I appreciate the running commentary here; seeing as I've managed to watch less than 5 minutes total (in small segments at that) here in Mexico City.
Bekele doing his usual deceptive fall back.

Nope. He's dropped.

He was uncomfortable at the half and was forced to relax.
Who is that german woman? Damn annoying.
