NBCSports Track & Field TV Schedule:
http://www.nbcsports.com/track-and-field-schedule
According to the NBC Sports website, there are a few ways to watch the Berlin Marathon...all of which require a cable subscription of some sort.
NBC Sports Gold: 9/24 2:30AM
Olympic Channel: 9/24 12PM
NBCSports: 9/24 12PM
NBCSN: 9/25 7PM
So you're telling me I need to drive to Louisville in a couple months?
So how does this apply to a marathon? Yet another dumb comment.

Yes it disadvantages parents without money and is way cheaper for them but it dilutes the attendance at the meet.

Exactly. That's what they do to NFL games. If it doesn't sell out, they black out the game on local TV. Creating an environment where people want to watch enough to pull it up on their computer, but won't go and watch the game themselves, is not good of the sport at all.
Flotrack is so Shady.
Mike Posner.
300.
Destiny's Child.
Remember when Flotrack was cool? 2006.
World Cup.
Then everyone started scoring their crappy bicycle-at-best videography with lousy lamer electro indie pop music. And y'all boys were always macho about y'all's athletic feats but let this slide. Might as well be wearing pink tutus and bun huggers.
Now everyone is using drones and thinking they're all legit. Just like when all the college kids were blasting Black and Yellow.
In terms of their contribution to society, I put Flotrack in the same category as direct marketers, big tobacco, firearms manufacturers and the like.
interesting...the listings don't match. I used the search function on the NBC site and also listing sites (e.g., TV Guide). None of these show the replays that appear on the site you mentioned.

I'll drive if I can get to my final destination realistically in a day. If I have to stop and stay the night somewhere along the way, I would likely fly. ~15 hours at the most probably.
Meaning Berlin is not within diving distance sadly.
But if it was less than 15 hours away and FloTrack was the only one showing it, I'm going there myself before I pay them a dollar.
I get what you are saying, but would you really spend $200 on gas and waste two days in the car to watch even something great like the BERLIN Marathon if it was 15 hrs away? Like if you lived in the south of France or in Spain? I don't think I would drive 15 hours for our Olympic Trials (on the track!), I would fly!!
I have driven to Terre Haute for the NCAA Nationals several times (seven hours for me) but I have to stay in a hotel TWO nights and spend most of two days in the car. I do it because of the whole event is fun to be at and to watch and I can see the race several times during the 30 min it runs. Also there is a women's race.
I don't see how it would be worth driving 15 hours one way to see the BERLIN Marathon. You get much more out of it watching on TV. Just my opinion, and just like yours, it cannot be wrong.

The NFL isn't stupid enough to blackout games anymore. That might have been a good policy 30 years ago but the NFL makes FAR MORE MONEY from tv than they can ever make on game attendance.
You know that cable you have the allows you to watch Berlin for "free"? The NFL is getting a dollar from you every month whether you like football or not.
From 2006 to 2014 the lowly Cleveland Clowns have increased revenue from 206 million dollars a year to 313 million dollars a year while ticket prices went up $5 on average.
I like the "Louis C K" model. He streamed one of his new stand-up routines for $5. It's 2017. The bundle model is in its death throes. Netflix needs to start buying event rights and put the nail in NBC's coffin. Their coverage recharges my hate run meter.
