It will depend on the quality of the applicant pool and the # of bibs the BAA is giving out to qualified runners compared to charity.
Last year they quietly upped the number of charity bibs (without increasing total bib #s sold) which is why the qualifying cutoff went up.
Kind of sucks but - the BAA needs to show continued growth in the "Fundraising" component because it adds to the marketing value.
Exactly. It isn't a race anymore. It's a charity event. I don't even pay attention to it anymore other than the blurb on the nightly news when they a Kenyan won for the 373rd year in a row. Used to be the granddaddy of all marathons. Not anymore.
