Bump. Anybody heard anything as to what the cutoff might be?

Not the cutoff, but the BAA did post on FB that they were accepting about 24,000 qualifiers for 2018 - up several hundred from 2017.

Correct. 24k has been the target the past few years. Actual acceptance numbers vary though —
2018 = ?
2017 = 23,214
2016 = 24,032
2015 = 23,546

No. Here's a prediction of 1:00-1:10
http://www.findmymarathon.com/marathon-news/predicting-the-2018-boston-marathon-qualifying-cutoff/Anyhow, it should be less than the 2:09 of last year
Random guess with no basis in reality: -2:16
Comfortably under my -4:11... but enough to keep out the rifraff (kidding, I hope its near 0 for all my fellow slightly squeakier squeakers)
It would be awesome if people who have gotten acceptance notices and were within 5 minutes would start posting their BQ-x times. Maybe we can start to figure it out before the official announcement.
Just received the official email. I'm in!!
My buffer was -4:11
yeah they look to be sending them out presently. 3:36 is the lowest in the comment thread on their FB page so far.
ain't no thing for me though B-|
Alright, I got my confirmation with -4:11!!
So safe to assume anyone with over -4:11 is in.
I kinda want to troll the BQ page and say I'm in with a one minute handle but don't want to get DQed ha.
3:25 is updated lowest so far.

True, I forgot this was LetsRun... never can be sure.
THE CUTOFF TIME IS 3:23!!
That's insane! They really need to fix this system.
Missed by less than 40 seconds. Ah well. Shouldn't have went out too fast in my race as I should've easily broken 3.
Or maybe they should restrict the amount of net downhill allowed. I got in, but with the help of a 4K+ drop. The side industry of Boston Qualifier courses is pretty absurd.
Don't you feel dirty, tho?

The BAA stated in its press release: "Total field size set at 30,000 entrants ... More than 80% of the field will be comprised of athletes who have met the qualifying standards." This means that 24,000 should have been admitted, which is consistent with their press release. Instead they only admitted 23,198! Someone should ge them a calculator!

I really don't know what the problem is. The fastest people get in, what's wrong with that?
After two big misses in a row it is clear that trying to predict the cutoff is a futile exercise.

Exactly. It's not a question of how strict the limit is, it's about fairness. They should not allow courses with large net drops.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
