Not really. It's like 4 minutes slower than her PB.
Cool that she can still run.

Classic
Why? It really isn't that remarkable to be four minutes outside your lifetime best when you are close to 50 and still running a lot.
in xc vs. track?

Right. I was nowhere near elite status, but I ran a lifetime best of 18:10 and was still running 21:XX at age 50.

Well, a general rule of thumb is that you are doing pretty well if you can approach your high school PRs in your early 50s...
Btw, I see that she is head xc coach at Coastal Carolina. Anyone know what happened to Jeff Jacobs?

Its because you were no where near elite.
First thing to remember that really running elite pace wheres the body down. You never raised a sweat when it came to time keeping. That means you have plenty left in the tank.
Many of us elite guys can barely walk properly. We left it on the track when it was meaningful.
You jogged around and cheer about your multi decade endurance.
I'm looking at master athletics records. I am looking at youth age records. 50 to 54 year old performances seem similar to 12 to 14 year old performances.

16:56 lifetime, 17:45 at close to 50. Pretty bad but not such a huge difference.
Not sure why you're all offended. It just seems like Budd still trains pretty hard
Before you say I must have barely done any training it required a couple of years of 80 miles or so per week to even crack 17.
