Thank you. I'm just very out of touch with trail running. Only legit races I really know of are this one, Western States, Hardrock and a few others.

It's when they hit the checkpoint unless they changed it.
when you look at the link

1 4 François D'HAENE France SE H 04:53:31 Les Chapieux - Fr. 23:26:41 Col de la Seigne - Sa. 01:02
2 1 Jim WALMSLEY United States SE H 04:53:05 Les Chapieux - Fr. 23:27:32 Col de la Seigne - Sa. 01:04
you see that JW is listed as rank 2, even though his race time is the fastest. this is because he must have entered the aid station first, and left as second ('last point').

Look closely. The local time is listed for each (next to the letters "Fr," for France). That's the time they left the aid station, and that determines the order they're listed.
Right, I didn't know they had that. I was only looking at the "Ranking" tab which has "Ranking at timing point Les Chapieux" but that's better.

I am watching the live feed now and have question. As part of the qualifying process for UTMB does one have to like techno/house/electronic music?
yes,

yes, that's what I was trying to say, but maybe I didn't express myself clearly.
to be honest though, as much as I admire these guys, watching this live feed is not exactly the most exciting thing I could think of on a Friday night

Yeah. If the coverage were better, I'd definitely crack open some beers and invite some friends over to watch. But it's pretty much 20 hours of nothing, with about 6 bursts of excitement, each lasting about 2 minutes as the leaders come through the aid stations.
Any updates on Walmsley? Did he fall off lead pack yet?
they still have 56 miles to run?!hahaha, insane

Walmsey, Jornet, and Dhaene are neck and neck it appears thus far.
How far are these men off of CR???
Seriously, no one should have the patience of a guy like Jornet. Climbing Everest is the type of mental and physical fortitude needed to prep for UTMB. Me thinks when the sun comes up Walmsley makes a move, but Jornet is patient and comes on late.
that's what she said

I think that we will see Sage make a move after mile 60-70. He is afraid he is gonna blow up like in prior races and will stop dropping people once the time is right. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SAGE!
Yeeaaaahhhhhhh, baby!!!
Walmsey first to Checruit. Had a 5 min gap last checkpoint. Is he taking off too early?
does a bear sh*t on the pope?!he still has 50 miles to run. It's like a marathoner being in first place at 13.1 and saying he/she's gonna win. it means nothing. i sure as h*ll wouldn't want to be leading at this point in a long raceyou ultra people, tons of practical, sensible sense as runners and people until race day, then you throw that logic aside and get all irrational.

Relax man. I've never followed an ultra before but I bought into the hype this time. Just making conversation on the thread.
I saw another thread about this yesterday that I think was closed but. Jim was spouting yesterday before the race that he planned on smashing the CR. I think he has a shot.
