do it Jager.
get this monkey off your back. everything in the rest of your career will be easier if you break 8:00 today!!!!!!
5:24 at 2k for jager
Jager thought the pace was slow and took over the race from the pace makers, stringing out the field. 5:24 at 2k, they need a 2:35 to get under, The big 3 are all still in it.
2:44 second 1k. Don't know if they are breaking 8....
From the internal LRC doc:
Within 100 meters, it’s Kipruto and Jager running 1-2 as they’re keen to chase the rabbits.
Kipruto passes koeh
2:40.27 at 1k and they see it’s slow. Kipruto and Jager, who had been right on the second rabbit (Koech), move by him and go up to join the first rabbit, Lagat, who previously had a five-meter gap. They have a slight gap on El Bakkali.
With four to go, Lagat is off and Jager moves into the lead. He’s trying to push, El Bakkali still a couple of meters behind Kipruto but he still looks pretty good.
Now with three to go, it’s a pack of five -- Jager, kipruto, kebenei, el bakkali and kirui.
Jager stringing it out with two to go, and it’s jager, kipruto, and el bakkali
Jager cracks 50m into the last lap....and now falls in water pit!!
Kipruto 8:04 win over the Morrocan guy. Jager stumbled over the last water jump and lost a few seconds and finished 8:11 in 3rd.

Repeat of world champs at the bell; it’s jager, kipurto and el bakkali.
El bakkali moves by kipruot at the bell and by jager on first turn. Kipruto follows him and with 300 to go, jager in third.
Jager done on backstretch.
El bakkali really digging but can’t totally shake kipruto. El bakkli leads by about five meters on final jump, kirptuo attacks hard off final barrier. WHAT A WIN!
my feed froze! that's what I get for being crafty and nefarious and dissing rojo!
Bakkali takes the lead at the bell, Jager is following back, Kipruto is chasing Bakkali. Jager fell at the water jump. Kipruto just overtook Bakkali at the end. 8:04 winning time. Again, the pace makers ruined the attempt at a fast time. Can they just pay an older high profile athlete to do pacing. For example, Bram Som always does a great job for the mens 800m. Meadows always is great when she paces. Maybe they should start investing more in pace makers.
Looks like Jager tried to hurdle the water jump.
wow jager what a bonehead move trying to hurdle the last water jump when you have never done that in competition before.

The fall was due to his not sticking the landing after hurdling the last water jump--not putting a foot on the steeple as he usually does. He was spent; his legs were shot; he was not prepared to hurdle over the water steeple; therefore the landing issue.

yeah what was he thinking. clearly gassed. not close to anyone or to 8 minutes. absolutely no reason to do that.
After Jager fell, Kebenei came by him and lookedlike hew as goni gto get third. Then was it just me but he just seemed to stop running for the final 10 meters and let Jager come by. That cost him a ton of money - $4000. Why wouldn't he run through the line?

I mean in the end, it didn't really cost him anything (other than maybe some pride). He wasn't going to go sub 8 or get top 2, and he still managed to hang on for third.
Jager bit it in final water

Next year sub 8:00, sub 13 and sub 3:50.

Kipruto was hurdling the water steeples. Jager saw that and mentally decided to give it a shot. Jager needs to practice the over, and over, again. If Kipruto can do it, Jager can.

Jager will never go sub 8. He had his chance and blew it.
