Every little community seems to have a GIS specialist in their city department so that's where I'm seeing the jobs too. Although there seems to be a growing demand in oil/gas/forestry and I'm sure it would be pretty applicable for analysts in business/ economics although I haven't seen a lot of GIS postings in that arena in my search.
