David Torrence downhill mile this Friday, 9/1. 10pm. Top of Bancroft Way, in front of the International house in Berkeley. Informal, fast if you want, but I will be taking my time.
See ya'll there

I'd love to come and run it. Good friend of DT's, I live about 2 hours away but would be there in 90 minutes time if this worked out.

always one guy has to be a dickwad, no matter the thread subject
I wholeheartedly agree that all should be welcomed... and encouraged to attend; former teammates, competitors, sponsors, friends, fans of the sport, any and all who would like to participate or watch.

Have at it you younger guys and gals, and older ones with more left than I have. Since it is downhill and informal, maybe a wheelchair division will happen.
On the Berkeley v Cal issue, it is important to remember that Cal is used in the sports community to describe what is, for NCAA D1, a mediocre sports school. In academics, Berkeley is a strong contender for the best public university in the world, and not so far down on the list that includes private universities that it matters all that much, and at least a handful of University of California branches have excellent academic reputations too. I know the locals call it Cal, but locals follow sports more than they follow fields like physics.

This is about DT. No one wants to hear your sermon on Berkeley.

USATF Marathon Champs are at CIM. I'm sure a bunch of folks would show up just to jog it and pay their respects. If whoever is putting this together gets organized you can probably get some USATF assistance and advertise at CIM at packet pickup and such.
I think Friday makes the most sense as planned. Before everyone is off for labor day. Surely some CIM folks already around if they're traveling far
What someone should do is set it up as America race like the New Year's Eve 4 mile they do every year in Central Park. The road mile is becoming very popular and if this race was named in remembrance of David Torrance how cool would that race be?
I meant set it up as a mile race
I will be there whenever it is.
Gonna be a hot one in Berkeley tomorrow. See you all there!
Dang
RIP Downhill runner David Torrance
Too young to die
Kind of like that Denounce Anti-fa thread that was deleted because Anti-fa made threats to Anti-fa ... yes, they were anti-fa and they threatened themselves to get the thread deleted.
See that is how the 1st amendment is attacked.
Looks to be down to mid 60s by 10PM. So fear not the heat.

Wow sounds like something the worst coach in the NCAA (based on talent recruited vs. results) would say.
Bump. Tonight at 10

Many thanks to the 75+ who came out and crushed it downhill. Truly shows how respected and loved David was
