I disagree with posters who say pick one sport or those saying that it's not ok for running to simply supplement soccer. I coach a middle school XC team, that level is all developmental and should allow for flexibility. In my view, the more serious commitment, etc, should start in high school.
I have plenty of soccer and lacrosse players who do both and see XC as a complement (in fact, I encourage that, the other option is to lose a lot of good runners altogether). My kids are asked to run daily (really 5 times a week) averaging about 15 minutes a day (depending on level) outside of practice (we practice 2-3 times a week). If they're involved in soccer, I don't ask them to do the same amount of work (a soccer practice can substitute for their running that day, if we don't have practice).
I think you're taking the right approach. It does strike me that the coach might be overdoing it, in general. I would keep an eye on that and communicate as necessary. Your daughter's health and LONG-TERM development (mentally and athletically, be it soccer, running or whatever) is really the priority here.
