the 1997 Michael Johnson v. Donovan Bailey 150m race in Toronto.
Johnson had set the 200m WR and 400m OR at Atlanta. Bailey had set the 100m WR in Atlanta as well ....
And we know how it ends - Johnson pulls up with a hamstring injury and doesn't finish. The IAAF first mocks the whole event as entertainment and not sport, but then is forced to create a "defending champion bye" rule because Johnson couldn't run in Nationals two weeks after this 150m race - due to the injury.
HAHA - Running's first and only attempt at something "mega" and it came up lame.
THIS is why Running has yet to hit that kind of mainstream financial success
