Congrats to Oregon's Raevyn Rogers for signing a big pro contract with Nike. This means she will not be back for her senior year at Oregon. And it also means that I don't get to watch her break Claudette Groenendaal's Oregon school record or Brigita Langerholc's Pac-12 record. But at least she has the NCAA outdoor record.
I have mixed emotions because I am a huge Oregon Ducks fan!!! But I am excited for Raevyn's future.
Raevyn Rogers goes pro!

Raevyn had nothing left to prove at the college level. So, I agree with her decision to go pro and forgo her last year at Oregon.
I think Raevyn would have got Groenendaal's Oregon school record, and Langerholc's Pac-12 record this season. But she has bigger and better things to achieve down the road. -
surprised it took this long for it to happen
wow UO has lots of holes to fill now if it wants to win the NCAA title next year. Isn't that 3 major point scorers leaving to turn pro? Washington, Stevens and now RR -
Elexis Guster is turning Pro as well, not sure if Ariana Washington is turning Pro or not.
-
What is the point of being a women pro if you have to race men?
-
Ducking Sammy Watson.
-
Raevyn Rogers will not transition to the pro ranks. Mark these words.
-
Washington is not going pro as of now. Could change.
-
She looks good against college competition but looks 2 cheeseburgers away from gaining weight. Always a struggle for the genetically heavy .
-
Ducking Sammy Watson lol Rodgers is 10 times the runner that Watson is or will ever be. Honestly I think Rodgers should be a 400 runner I mean at the 800 she would have to compete against the 3 "ladies" that went 1,2,3 in the Olympics. I still can't believe 3 dudes went 1,2,3 in the Final I was like wow those are women lol nah they dudes lol.

The competiton level is nuts (ha ha, get it??).
Seriously, she might do ok, its worth a shot. Montano looks a little thicker to me and does fine. Neither of them are heavy by any real measure. -

What are your words? You make a broad, sweeping statement without the clear, insightful reasoning to substantiate why Raevyn will fail.
In other words a typical LR posting. -

Her grammar and spelling were atypical. -
Why go pro heading into a non-championship year? 1:59 is not going to cut it at the international level for the foreseeable future. She's in a weird spot being a class if her own in college, but not quite good enough to make the US team.
Based on her 4x400m splits, she's better suited for the 400m -

+1
I was thinking the same thing about next year being a non championship year unless she sonehow has a chance for 2018 birmingham indoors. -
Raevyn Should join Alexa Efraimson in Portland. That would be a great duo

I think this is a great time for Raevyn to test the pro's. I don't think she has much more to accomplish in the college ranks to get paid more and the 800 pool is starting to get a lot of young stars. Chances she could get de-throne. She still has a chance to finish her college degree and it being a non-championship year, she doesn't have the pressure to perform at meets. She can test new trainings to help her get better. Possibly since not many athletes go pro in non-championship year, there could be more money to pay her for contract.

Isn't everybody two cheeseburgers away from gaining weight? This is a weird phrase. -
That's so Raevyn!
