I agree with the DQ but I think it is more Edris's fault then Chelimos. Edris was to the middle/outside of lane 2 going down the stretch. He then moved back to the inside to cut Chelimo off. Edris also started to slow down when he started to fall.
I'm not sure what Chelimo was supposed to do there. It may look like Chelimo was pushing Edris but to me it looked like unavoidable contact when Edris started going down.
If you watch all views (several times, you can see what is happening.
Yes, Edris drifted all the way out to the far edge of lane 2. Chelimo was half a step behind, but not yet gaining. Edris started drifting back to the inside of lane 2.
Chelimo gained a half a stride on him. Edris brushed Chelimo's leg and started losing his balance. This, IMO was incidental contact and was mostly Edris's fault. Now Edris started drifting even more inside to lane 1 completely cutting off Chelimo's path (which, franking was already mostly cut off once Edris got to the inside of lane 2). Now Edris was falling/slowing down and Mo was completely tying up and slowing down too.
Chelimo was slowing down less than everyone else now. If he'd had the open lane, he would have won. He tried to poke his way through. Reaching out and pushing both Mo and Edris.
If anything he pushed Edris forward, causing him to fall across the line. But it was the incidental contact which did Edris in. Not the push.
Here's the thing. Edris cut off Kejelcha with about 200 to go. Completely slowing his progress and costing him about 1/2 second or so. If not for that Kejelcha might win. Edris drifts out giving Chelimo a lane which he could not completely take advantage of, but he really did not have room move back into the spot he did. Eventually causing the incidental contact with Chelimo.
Mo wins because he had the inside lane and because Edris impeded two other competitors.
However, it hard not to DQ Chelimo because he did reach out and push both Mo and Edris.
