I've got LeBron over Gladwell.

Anyone who quotes an embedded link should be band.
And I can probably crush this Gladwell character over any distance 1000m or less.
Not sure about mile, though. How far is that in enlightened metric units?
"Malcolm who?" - LeBron
These ball players do need to have endurance for the long games and season. They also need speed. Can it translate to a sub-5 mile? I doubt it, especially for guys like LeBron with all that bulk. Very few people except the naturals can run a sub-5 mile without dedicated training.

I wonder what the dog saw? 😂
I'm a sprinter and I would never challenge a distance runner to a mile. People underestimate the talent it takes to run relatively longer distances.
It would be LeBron's PEDs v. Malcom's TRT
Great article. I am very impressed he runs over 20 miles/week on a underwater treadmill at 58. He seems to really like running. His time in the 5 miler was 32:30 from what he recalled. Pretty consistent with the 5:3x mile times he usually ran in college.

Bird is not a bullshitter. And he was a famously hard worker. So I'd take what he says at face value.
It suggests it's unlikely Lebron can break 5. It seems doubtful Lebron works harder than Bird did, and it seems doubtful that he's really that much better an athlete in a relevant way. He's heavier too.

My uncle was pretty good friends with Larry Bird in college and said Larry Bird would come to his frat house all the time and get high lol.
Also did LeBron respond to this?

So sad.
Yeah, I think that, as a well known author, he's doing just fine.
I like this and it'd be cool to see happen. NYRR should have tried for the 5th Ave Mile. It's plenty before the NBA season.
I think Lebron would struggle in a mile, especially if he blasts the opening 400.
I officially challenge Gladwell to a no holes barred wrestling match.
