Mimi's method would only be useful to family members and personal friends. Just a run. No record. No official result. Just personal gratification. Unfortunately, Mimi decided to turn her run into a media circus.
Exactly! This effort, following R Young and the other posers, has really gotten blown up to garner great attention. Her past indicates she has, maybe some yet unfulfilled, attention-seeking streak. And now there are hundreds if not thousands of on-lookers, besides the moola, with the sponsors, the charities, the book deals, the interview circuit: "53 miles per day in 53 days; New World Record".
The only problem is, she actually still has to go out and do it. Plan A? Little white lie cheating, with the tracker turned off. But if that gets exposed too early and, and she has to turn on the tracker, and falters, then there is always Plan B: "Confessions of all-day Marvelous Ultra-runner" (play on Dean K's book title, for the uninformed).
Just 54.60 for Mimi today. The lowest mileage count, I think.
But she is, as yet, still locked in place outside Walsenburg. That map position has been locked most of the day, correct. That is the supposed realtime tracked position. How do they now fix that?

Well, she obviously has internet. Her Strava was updated. But no realtime data anywhere for anyone to see.
But how do you get the Strada data clean, if you drive your runner in an ice bucket around (forward)?
Strava data is a simple text (spreadsheet type) file. It is only being uploaded at the end of the day, so there is plenty of time for the crew to 'clean' it up before uploading.

MIMI TURN ON YOUR TRACKER!!

It looks like she stopped updating her webpage fake "real-time" data. Her fans have obviously been on this thread. She certainly knows she is under the microscope. Now she has seemingly gone underground rather than turn in her tracker.

This real-time tracking deal IS very much in the minds of the ultra community, including Mimi. It is NOT a slight oversight. I have been posting portions of Mimi's quotes in the Ultra interview, with bolded emphasis on key quotes. ...
BREAKING: I just unearthed additional Mimi quotes from a different online interview that was published clear back in October 2016. The interview covered Mimi's plans for 2017, including her planned upcoming run across America. These quotes are significant, as they not only reveal that Mimi was well aware of the importance of real-time GPS tracking almost a year ago, but also, the Guiness World Record folks were demanding it!
-------
5. Has the recent SKINS report into Rob Young’s attempt to run across America made you and your team take any additional measures to make sure that your data is beyond any doubt and your record attempt absolutely transparent?
...
"For anyone attempting a record of any kind it needs to be as open and transparent as possible, providing as much proof and data as you can to prove without doubt that the record attempt is genuine. "
...
I will carry a GPS tracker with me (it will not be on the vehicle). As well as allowing people to follow me on social media it will enable people to find me so they can come and join me for a run. It is also something that Guinness World Records insist upon."
Here is the link to this additional interview published almost one year ago:
Interesting find!
Mimi also says in that interview:
"I would like to think we have everything covered but I’m very happy if people think I have missed something to let me know. "
How about it Markus or Scam_Watcheroo? As indicated earlier in this thread, have either of you reached out to the Mimi camp to find out why Mimi's realtime tracker is not powered on?
Bunch of triggered Brits (and west Brits) over in the Ultra Running Community on FB. Some legend came in and linked to this thread and those losers are going nuts in support of Marvellous Mimi !!!

Yes, and the legend was immediately thrown out of the group for a polite and valid post simply linking to this thread! That group is unbelievable.
I'm amazed the thread is still there. (They claim the posters profile must be fake as it's only a week old, but the poster clearly states with transparency that they only joined fb to post in the group. That breaks no rules and you are not required to use a photo of yourself as a profile photos, fb isn't a f***ing passport!)
The Mimi defenders clearly have NOT read this thread, and are just harping on about how "Marvellous" she is judged on her past races.
Yes, she has indeed had some very good results and is a good runner, but you don't just put your blinkers on and ignore this very real issue just because she's good.
This lack of live tracking is a huge issue. Some are defending her saying there is no signal out there.....Rubbish excuse. She should have used Sandra's and Pete's tracking system, no problem at all with that live tracker.
The Strava data alone is just not enough, and if they had bothered to read this thread they'd see why.
The Brit fb group is making out it's simply America hating Brits. Yes, there are trolls on here that go on about Brits, but they have also unearthed many USA cheats. It's not about which country they are from, but ONLY about Mimi's lack of live tracker.
No one at all has run with her on this attempt as no one can find her!
She has severely messed up. Whether an intentional cheat or huge mistake, the fact remains this record attempt is deeply flawed and should be rejected as a record if she breaks it
She obviously knew what was required and has fallen well short.
The live tracker she is using is utterly useless for this attempt and she should have realised it wasn't suitable, if indeed there is a problem with lack of signal.
Why the radio silence? She should be stating WHY the tracker is not on
Ah, the thread has now been deleted on Ultra Running Community on FB.! LOL. What a pathetic group. Any one else want to try? I don't use fb
Mimi's GPS tracker is back on. You can actually grab latest GPX/KML for her, her car, and her RV if you tap the playback event screen in the Racedrone tracking:
http://www.racedrone.net/events/playback/mimi-runs-across-the-usa
Looks to be a fair few jumps in her track but I've not cross-referenced with Strava or the vehicle's tracks.
FYI for those who are unfamiliar with US geography, she's in the middle of Colorado where there is plenty of cell reception (I lived near there and it was fine, and that was 5+ years ago). It's not some sparsely populated desert out west. Sure, there can always be a "dead zone" like at our local grocery store, but using this as an excuse for a lack of tracking does not pass the smell test.
I've set up a separate Mimi thread in the main forum
How did she jump so far east this morning? I know the tracker was turned off all day yesterday but she seems to have made a big move from where it was then to now. I guess we'll never know how much of that she actually ran. It wasn't tracked and thanks to Scam_Watcheroo we know the Strava could have been faked by driving or biking (with edited times).
This should mark the official end of the attempt. There is now a substantial gap in the record that cannot be justified. As far as I'm concerned, it's over.
