The article was posted in this thread a while back, but for some reason didn't generate much discussion. There has been a lot of weird back-and-forth so a number of contributors have stepped back. I think I'll join them. Go Sandy!
Yep, I missed it. Went back and checked. It was posted right before SW posted elevation differences.
This thread has been some 'adventure'. You have been a positive contributor.

And so has been ScamWatheroo, and many many others.
Wow! With some epic drone footage, too!
Sandy is on her 5th break since starting the final 135-mile push. The breaks total to just over 5 hours as of 11 AM Eastern Time.

My question pertains to her technique in the weeks prior, not her technique over the last several hours, which may be greatly compromised with severe fatigue. (Obviously, it would have been nice to have been able to go watch her for a few days to see how she does it, but short of that...all we have is testimony from witnesses with a few short videos, the latter of which do not divulge a technique over a typical half-day period (e.g., how many stops, for how long over five miles).
I've done analysis of Sandra's Strava files that relates to your question. On average, Sandra stays in her running cadence for 5-6 minutes at a time before dipping down and resuming running again. I'll plot Sandra's numbers per day and post the links here.
It will be interesting to see what you come up with.
So Sandy still doesn't know that Mimi dropped out?? In that case, she has no idea whether she's about to set a new transcon record. That's amazing. For all she knows, she'll reach NYC city hall with a forgettable 2nd-best time. Though at this point, I have to imagine they only thing she cares about is reaching that finish line and being DONE.
It's approaching noon, Eastern time. She has about 40 miles left to go, and is averaging about 4.3 miles per hour. That predicts a finish around 9 PM in New York.

It will be a nighttime finish. She may take another break for dinner. She likely won't get onto the City Hall steps, but she will run down Broadway at night. The Lights on Broadway--those are impressive.
Another video from Cinder. Sandy has left the mother ship RV for the final push. https://www.facebook.com/ultragirl52/videos/1745240672174668/?hc_ref=ARSrog-Pxnt60LWlcJ49Lu-0QVns7D4ze1Wln6arhSOgCttxrRTkTXYNqPQbfFaYDT8&pnref=story

Cinder says ETA at City Hall steps is 6-9 PM. The route in NYC will be the eastern bike path and not down Broadway as Pete K did.

I noticed that. Her math seems wrong. 6 PM is completely out of the question, and even 9 PM would require a major speed-up. At current pace and remaining distance, I peg Sandy's estimated finish at city hall around 11 PM Eastern time.

Yup. 6 PM means 40 miles in about 5-1/2 hours. 9-10 hrs is more likely. The later it gets the less safe it is along the bike path. She should have a larger group with her through there.
80 mins every 5 miles now gets them there only in the 11th hour. Will they make it before the clock strikes 12?
I hope somebody can live stream the final miles into NYC. I would definitely watch!
Howabout it BROJO's? Do the number of thread views justify some BOOTS ON THE GROUND in NYC?!?

Unless the flotrak chode-a-lodes show up first.... to put it behind a paywall (pffffffft).

Charlie tried to stream Pete's final miles from Central Park to the City Hall. The issues were the cellphone signal was lost and Charlie was not very steady--he ran a long day while videoing. Pete's Garmin signal was also lost. They final run was down Broadway which might have had something to do with the lose of signal. Cinder said that Sandy intends to run along the eastern bike path, maybe that will help keep the signal going if someone streams it live.
