Personally, I think it is time to find an alternative ending point. An ocean-to-ocean route makes a lot more sense, and it pays respects to the first person to do both of the primary routes.
Just found this site, which claims to list all the crossings (or did, until 2014). Lots of different city pairs used.

Ahem, others asked for it longer before you chaps did. Now there is actual elapsed time. Who asked for that???

I like it. This SF to NYC stuff is too easy, right? Time to kick it up a notch!
The next logical step is Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia Argentina. You'd have to go cross-country through the Darien Gap in Panama-Columbia though, because roads don't connect.

I don't know what you're babbling about but you're wrong.
So far 69 was the first one who actually posted the individual 5 mile splits.
Meanwhile the stupid troll was going on and on about subject lines, which he should have taken to a different thread.

For calculating distance-to-go, we do have Pete's route by state.
Ohio was 227.5 miles.
Pennsylvania was 321.0.
New Jersey+NYC was 85.8.

Hmmm. That adds to 634.3 miles. Adding in the 36 miles to run to get to Ohio means the miles to go at the start of the day were 670.3. Adding Sandy's start of miles for today of 2,422.2
(a) Total Pete K miles OH+PA+NJ+NY = 634.3
634.4 + 36 miles Sandy ran to reach OH = 670.3 Miles to go
670.3 + 2,422.2 = 3,092.5 estimated total miles for Sandy
I think for the daily summary I will start using the 3,093 as Pete's Route Revised.
It seems that the miles to go are roughly the same between Pete's Garmin and Google Maps walking distance. But Pete's miles we should note that the mileage is slightly short because he has some GPS dropouts--some road curves were lost. You can see these if you check his public shared Garmin route. I tried plotting Pete's route into Google Maps, only up to Ohio, and came up with Pete's route being 645 miles to NYC City Hall. That may not be quite right and could use another check.
Miles to Go: Ohio + Pennsylvania + New Jersey + New York
Pete's Garmin: 634.3
Pete's Route in Google Maps: ~645
Google Maps Shortest walking route: 638
Note to Pete's sister: Keep revising the route. You are shaving miles off Pete's route. The reroutes are an improvement.
I should add that Pete definitely ran more miles that the 3,067 his Garmin says he ran.

Why does Sandra start at 2am? Or is that converted to Pacific time for some reason and she's really starting at 4 or 5 local time?

OVERALL SUMMARY
Total Miles: 2483.1 (Per Stava)

Route Miles: 3093 (Sandy estimate. Pete's Garmin Route of 3067 + 26. Added adjustment for Pete's OH+PA+NJ+NY)
Miles to Go: 610 ** (Based on 3,067+26 miles minus Total Miles)
Google Miles to Go: 614 (Based on the remaining walking distance per Google Maps)
NOTE: ** The miles Sandy needs to cover is likely 10-30 miles further than Pete's Route. Adjustments are being made to Pete's Route by Pete's sister to try to shorten, or make for a safer route for, the remaining distance to NYC.

She is in the Eastern Timezone. The times on her Garmin are all based on the Pacific Timezone. So a 2 AM start means 5 am local time. The overall time from the start in San Francisco (6:01 am) is what count for the overall time.
I should add for anyone looking to join her for the run that they need to add 3 hours to make sure you met up at the right time.
Sandy is reasonably steady in pace and start, and when she takes a lunch break (after ~35 morning miles). You can predict when she will arrive somewhere. It looks like they are adjusting the route Pete K took during his record run. It looks like the route is trying to fit with what Google Maps shows as the shortest walking distance from where she ends her day to the base of the George Washington Bridge to NYC.
