Markus, do you believe these attempts are legit or is it like RY?

Sandy's data is legit. The quality is the same as Pete used for his run. You can see the data points in real time, and look for anomalies.
I have been following her Garmin data on several days and I can say that it would be impossible to pull the RY RV trick. The data would show a wildly uneven pacing. Sandy is running 4 to 4-1/4 mph. I don't know of any driver who can maintain that hour after hour, day after day.
On Sandy's run web tracking page you can click on any of her Garmin data points (blue dots) and see the time marks. In Google maps you can measure the distance covered between marks and see if it makes sense.
Another poster caught that after 40 miles yesterday the data indicated she was in a car (or at least the Garmin was). I looked at the "back-track" data and it is obvious, even without measuring, that the data points were suddenly separated much farther apart; the after 40 mile data looks like an RV ride.

Yes, I believe both attempts are legit.

Sorry for the confusion.
Here is the comparison with all the days of Sandy.

It would be nice if we had the same data for Mimi that we did for Pete and do for Sandra. What's the excuse?

I really wish there was a way to see blood data. Not because I'm worried about doping, but it would be very interesting to see how the body reacts to such extreme levels of stress.
There was a big study done during a Trans Europe race a lot of years back.
A lot of information from the runners where gathered and studies where published over the years.
Are you able to find any of those studies online?
Google Trans Europe race and Beat Knechtle.

Pete and Sandy used Garmins with real time uploading. Mimi is not doing that, but she should. She is using a different tracking device that works with Strava. Maybe Mimi can explain her method.
The way Pete and Sandy are doing it is the best way. Anyone can following along. Cheating because just about impossible. My primary suggestion would be that GPS stamped photos be uploaded every so often, maybe a couple for each mile run.
Something interesting to use as a check on Sandy's Garmin data is to enter her path into in Google maps.
Click on Google maps at the point she is at. Choose measure distance. Then pick a point that occurs later on the route; 10 miles, or your best guess as to the stopping point for the day. This gives you a driving route. Now pick the walking option for the route. If the route changes, which it might because Google might use a hiking path to shorten the route, click on the route line where the route is not right and drag it to the expected route.
What you will see in the above is that Google maps will give you an elevation profile with net gain and drop for the route. For example, at the time of this post I can see that Sandy has been on a long climbing up. She has about 300 feet to go to reach Sacramento Pass on US-50/US-6, and about one mile to get there. After that she has a 2000 foot downhill run over a distance of 17 miles to reach the Utah border.
At exactly 12 noon Sandy ran past the point were she got a ride to--the campground she stayed at last night. Her pace is as it was in prior days. Maybe she will post later why Sep 21 was a 40 mile day.
Sandy is 15 miles from Utah.

It looks like that Sandy is a lot slower then in the last days. Let's hope she recovers.

From the start of the day for about 5 hours she was on a very long steady uphill, climbing some 1500 feet over 17 miles. Her pace was about 3-1/2 miles per hour (21 miles in 6 hours). Her pace should pick up now that she is on a long downhill (2000 feet of drop over 15 miles).

Mmmh, I don't think you can blame 1500ft over 17 miles for that. You probably don't feel that at all. That's 88 feet per mile.
Are trekking poles allowed to be used on a transcon run? I thinking poles a big a huge benefit because it lessens the impact the legs see, especially on downhills.
As one of the transcon unofficial officiators, I say poles are allowed.

There are no real downhills in a transcon.
At 3:58 pm PDT Sandy crossed into Utah. Nevada is DONE!
That's about 33 miles for today.
Or 3.5 miles per hour in a 9.5 hour running day.
Looks like she is fighting to stay in the game.
The 61 mile day was a big mistake. That totally wiped her out.

Maybe so. She is about 24 miles down on her 55 mile per day target. She should be at 660 miles today, but is at ~636 (666 per Garmin minus the 30 miles of backtracking that started the day). She is at an RV / motel location now. There does not appear to be a reasonable stopping place for another 18 miles, and about 2 hours of sunlight/twilight left for the day. It might be best to call it a day and make a really early start tomorrow.
Yup, she called it a day at the RV park at the Utah border.
