Kid running after kipchoge wrote:People here are so stupid thinking that having a good kick can bring you the first place if you just keep up with the leader who's kick is weaker than yours. By this rational Usain Bolt could break 2 hours in the marathon- all he has to do is keep up with Kipchoge's pace and then outkick him.
I've actually thought of this. My prediction Bolt will now turn to the marathon,
because all he has to do is to follow the leaders and then outkick them to the finish.
It's not about just having a kick. It's about having fast distance ability and having a kick. It's about having both. Ayana only has one. She is a talented FAST distance runner, but if she is forced to win a race with her kick? She ain't going to win. SO SHE HAS TO GO OUT AT WORLD RECORD PACE. But that type of running will wear you out in the short run and long run.
Why do you think Molly Huddle went out fast as hell in the 5000m heat?
" I didn't trust my kick, so I didn't want to leave it to that. I felt my best chance of qualifying was going out fast to get the time or getting a top spot."
If she does not have a lead bigger than 30-40m with 800m to go, she is not going to win. So my point is, she ain't going to dominate 5000m, not with Obiri, Dibaba and Hassan in the mix.
