When Mo wins this way you're all just full of hate and scorn.

Anyone know the final 3000 split?
Final 4000m is more significant... 11:15 for her!! That's 14:03 pace.
So happy for Obiri! I would have rather seen a fresh Ayana vs a fresh Obiri, but that duel was incredible nonetheless.
Wow to 14:03 pace! It was amazing running after the first 800, but that's super amazing!
For those who are wondering who Obiri, this is her outkicking Meseret Defar a little over 5 years ago. So she is not new as a phenom.
Congrats to Muir, first clean finisher.
Obiri in interviews sure seems hardcore for a Kenyan woman. Serious Iron Lady- don't F with her!

not at 5000m . Dibaba has beaten her there . Vivian has beaten her there. and now Obiri has beaten her twice.
At shorter distances you need a kick...you saw what happend to mo yesterday.
Yep, he waited to use his KICK, and he lost, as did all the other kickers except Edris. The same in the men's 1500 today, the front runners ran away from the field. So much for kickers always winning.
Ayana was tired today from the 10k, and also the pace was too slow.
I knew from the pace the first lap that Obiri would win. Too bad they didn't run hard all the way.

we just agree to disgree. Ayana lacking finishing ability just leaves her vulnerable at 5000m.
Komen who had no kick at all ran away from Geb the kicker, who totally gave up the last 100 meters.
You have no clue what you're babbling about.

Fernando Mamede
Mamade ran 48s for 400 meters, and had a very fast kick.
Carlos Lopes was the champion overall, and his fastest 400 was 56 seconds.

uh, no. Mamede had some serious finishing speed. I believe he finished a 13:12 5000 with a 52 last lap.

Ha. Well, evidently I do, because she has gotten destroy 2 years in row in the last 400m - no kick.
My points is as a runner you have to be 3 dimensional. She is one dimensional, and her tactic will not work for he like it does at 10000m. Plus Hassan is about to concentrate on 5000m. And if Dibaba can get her head together, Ayana will have a very hard time getting wins at 5000m
Ayana was fresh. She only had one race this year. Women( tirunesh, Vivian, molly huddle) double all the time. So stop with the excuses.
She lost - badly.
Dibaba got destroyed by Ayana. The idea is to run 67 66 65 64 to break someone. Not 65 66 68 68 etc.
Remember after the prelims when you said that Rowbury had a good chance at a medal? That wasn't very wise.

Ayana's only chance was to run a WR pace, but a stupid first 2 pedestrian laps cost her the race.
Ayana's own stupid fault for jogging the first 800 in 2:40+ 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why are you all patting yourselves on the back so hard? Most people knew/picked Obiri to win this race.

That's not what I recall, so please provide stats.

Well 28 of the top 30 contestants in the prediction contest picked Obiri to win. I realize that is a selection bias, but that is an overwhelming number. I guarantee if one of the site employees provided the percentage of people who were picked to win the w5000m that Obiri would have the highest percentage.

You need to finish with speed, so getting out fast is good if you can close. But not good, because you will come back to the kickers in the end.
...
No runner can run world record pace without tiring and either coming back to the field, or someone running with her and out kicking her in the end
What a foolish inaccurate statement--obviously somebody completely missed Ayana's Rio run.

One- she tired during that run, because she could have run faster. And she tired during the 5000m run as well.
Now, my point is, by her tiring at some point during her run, is where she could have been caught. Vivian stated after the end of her 5000m victory against Ayana, she was going to use that same plan in the 10000m race, but her teammate screwed up the tactic, and went out with Ayana. So Viv had to run by herself, in which she also ran under 30mins, and set a PR. Ayana still blew everyone away, but Viv did gain some seconds of the original lead. Ayana got tired. Had Viv's teammate stuck to the plan, they would have been able to work together, and they would have closed the gap.
