The people in the third heat were idiots.
I see what you did there

He might not have known but for once it could have been them having a bit of decorum, by not telling Martinez "hey you didn't make it" during a live interview (she probably knew already, but in the event she didn't that would be kinda cruel).
Very much opposed to the infamous ambush-style interview of Wallace Spearmon at the 2008 Olympics, when he clearly had no idea he had been DQed.
I would like to hope it was done by etiquette, but I know it was done with ignorance. They told Chelimo last year he was DQd in the 5000m during his interview.
Kiprop qualifies easily running about 300m hard.
Andrews turned an ankle and DNF

It looked like he stepped on the curb?
Kiprop hasn't looked great this season, but he sure does look ready now. Will contend for gold.

I thought Kiprop stepped on his heel and caused him to pull up lame.
RA just keeps cracking under pressure. I've never stepped on the rail in my life. How does he do it twice in two semis?

Thought he might have clipped the rail or back foot of someone and rolled it?
Deadly combo of running in the back with an elite field and running on the inside rail while the race is amping up.
Clearly Sharp is being punished for not being politically correct enough in her interview after her 3rd place finish at the Rio Olympics W800m Final, when she cried and made slightly heated comments after losing the bronze medal to the men in the race.
Obviously, Saint Laura is very politically correct (and I am a fan of Laura Muir but she has obviously worked out that any woman who speaks out about the current carry on in womens' athletics will have life made very difficult for her) and no dq resulted in the W1500m for her several pushes of Jenny Simpson.
Athletics is currently a farce. What is the point in pressurising athletes not to speak out when those in charge produce a farce as a result?
Wait a minute? Sharp was DQd for bumping Lipsey?
That's absurd. When I watched it, I personally thought LIpsey should be DQd. I'm dead serious. Really I think there should be no DQ. But Lipsey started the final 100 on the rail. She finished it in lane 2. You are supposed to run a straight line. Now she did move to the outside of lane 1 to try to get around Semenya. So that's where she should have finished. She kept moving wider and wider.
These officials need to stop DQing people. Both would have made it on time. Instead Lipsey is not out. No harm, no foul. My god.
Does anyone have the actual rule about running straight to the finish?

I don't know what in the world you people are talking about.
arse then!
Officials are working very hard in the call room to limit athletes in later heats from seeing what went on before them.
And Andrews is out after a mid-race a calf cramp/strain. Not sure if better positioning would have helped or not. Pretty good post-race interview though.

Exactly. I agree.

Might have cooked himself after a short recovery and a fast heat yesterday.
It didn't look like he stepped on a rail. On the other hand Kiprop is looking better than he's looked in over a year.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
