Does stepping on line in basketball require forfeiture of game?
So, two pages back or so in this thread you were arguing that stepping on line in basketball and track is the same = violation of rules. Several people responded that in fact, there are exceptions to the rule in both sports. And that if you were trying to argue by analogy, for basketball a violation of stepping on the line would have to equal forfeiting the game for your analogy to hold (as for track stepping on the line = DQ). This point was made several times and you continued to avoid this point.
Further, what if the line on the court, instead of being straight was incorrectly curved out into the playing area in a particular spot such that stepping on the line was more likely. Would an instance of "LeBron" stepping on the "curved out" portion actually be a violation of the rules? Or would the court be out of specification per NBA rules?
