still full of anger, good sign for the final.
Blake out, Japanese runner makes the most of dry line 9

Sani Brown has dark skin and curly hair, but his build is very Japanese. Fun to watch.
tour de france sprint finish, elbows flying, boxing people out, knocking them into barriers has got nothing on 5000m track eh?
they could double the heat sizes even more, instead of 20 crammed on the track, run everyone at once, make it 50+ and give them boxing gloves or something...
full contact track

Did he run tactically horribly or was that just me? Not that it should it have mattered. You'd think he'd be able to kick it in but still.
It was a hard heat to run tactically sound. In the cold and rain, 66 second laps is something everyone could do, but 63-64 second laps to give yourself space, (while saving something for the final) was something no one could do. So there were a bunch of lead changes but nothing strung out. Knight stayed back the whole time and burned one match on the last lap, Jenkins wanted to maintain contact with the front and burned his matches in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th kilometers.
Knight said, on a podcast after NCAA's, that he made a mistake by overreacting to a stumble at NCAA 5000 and then moved too soon. I wonder if he feels that today he had a chance to correct that mistake. What a finish from Justyn.
Looks like no chance for double gold for Wayde.
Van Niekerk in 3rd, looked off. He did make it as the slowest fastest loser.
Webb is back baby!

He goes to final as the second fastest loser.
Bolt must be kicking himself for not doing the 200, nothing to beat.
WVN looked really off. He looks more tired now than he did after the 400 final.
What an odd twist it would be if WVN actually has the hotel virus and Makwala was completely fine and not allowed to run.
Will WVN be in lane 9 again?

Yeah, but looked bad. Shouldn't even be favored to medal right now.
Makwala could win the 200. No one else looking dominant.
WVN only .10 from missing the final entirely. Blake also out. Makwala might actually be a trendy pick for the title.

.02 actually.
this is all for drama...make it look bad then come out of lane 8 again and win, watch
WVN trying to recapture that Rio magic. Gunning for lane 9
They should ask Kovacs how far he could put the women's shot.

.02!
Richards looked strongest today, to me, he was the only one that visibly didn't go all out till the end. But it's all quite close. And WvN could be in better shape again for the final.
Looking at Omar Mcleod being interviewed, I am starting to question my sexuality. What a handsome man!
