Is enforcing this a recent thing? I have never heard of a steeple DQ in many decades of viewing before Kemboi last year.

IN COMING, THE MO HATERS
The rule is listed below. You aren't allowed to step on the line at all on a curve. I think it's a straight part. You can do it on a straight part as long as you don't gain an advantage.
I don't think she really gained an advantage but they'll argue she was moving up. She did pass a lot of people right beofre the jump so they'll say she didn't have enough space to do that. To me it's absurd.
No comments on Emma's heat? Good run. Pretty easy.
And US officials are not protesting saying she gained advantage. I don't see advantage at all - she was clearly twisting to try to stay off the line and that certainly does not give advantage. Second, it was on straight out of the water and she made turn while in lane - she did not cut the corner.Shame on USATF.

https://twitter.com/letsrundotcom/status/895355295718928384it's just such a stupid rule. I get they don't want people running less than 3k but common sense people. If there is a touch foul on an uncatchable pass, you don't call it.
ABSURD. Iv'e said this before. The way the rule book is written, technically, you could DQ someone for impeding someone on lap 1 of the 10k.
They just had Bosse on the BBC set. He's amazingly good at interviews. He was in studio being interviewed. They had to cut the interview off to go to Mo Farah race. I wish they had the guts to ask Bosse about his comments on Farah.
I wish I'd remembered he said that stuff as I'd have asked our guys in London to ask him about them in the press conference yesterday.
Ludicrous......'advantage' my ass!!!
Jenkins so easy to pick out of a crowd with that glowing white skin.
I don't see why people keep talking about advantage. She stepped on the line on a curve. That's a clear violation. The advantage part only comes in if it was a straight or if she was forced out. She wasn't forced out.

Other screen caps show it on other laps on the curve.

wtf would you build an olympic-class stadium in the middle of London and not make it with a roof of some kind?
did they somehow think, "oh England, we won't get any interference from weather..." ???
Seb Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games, back in 2010:
"Bloody 'ell, ya wankers! Ya think bleedin' English pounds grow on soddin' trees!? We've got effin' Olympic this and Olympic that to build, so we can't put a lid on the blah-sted stadium!! Besides, a little Blighty mist will give our team a home field advantage!"
dear London, you get rain every third day of the year, invest...
Jinki in trouble!
I think that is because the line is painted straight. I don't know if technically it is a curve, but it looks like a straight.

Jenkins 10th in 13:31, there are 5 time qualifiers. He had better hope the second heat is slow.
Justyn Knight!
Hectic qualifying heat. Jenkins will be nervous during the next heat.

I laughed.
Justyn Knight!
whoever said this on the Jäger thread was right - lazy brits need to put down a rail on that curve.
