Why no Rupp in marathon?
Can't handle racing four months after a major like the big boys.
Also, has Chicago payday in October. 2:07 yawwwwwwn.

About half the field in a big bunch Metucci and Tsegay to the fore.
Why many athletes are going up to the sidewalks?
Hawkins hits the front! bit early though.;-)
31.35 10k Hawkins leading but being hauled back
stlill a big bunch Hawkins and Kibet (USA) leading
girls with spears
last 5k 15.22
15k
I think the winner is still buried in that pack of 30 runners
Kipketer breaking it up a bit...
leaders came back together again and Callum is off the front after looking like he had lost contact. Not sure about his tactics today?
15.18 for the 5k to 20k
65.28 @ HM Tola leading
Tola and Kirui have dropped Kipketer. Hawkins around 10th.
We talked to steeple guys at track and then to a cab to the marathon finish (about 25 minute cab).
Worked out well as we shared a cab by chance with Pascal Dobert and Jerry Schumacher, the Bowerman Track Club coaches. They said Amy Cragg is as fit as she's ever been but she recently picked up a cold.
Obviously they are pleased with what Evan Jager is doing this year.
Halfway in marathon in 1:05:28.
Also I told Jon, "nothing happens in the first half of a marathon." That pretty much proved to be the case here but just before halfway Tamirat Tola, Geoffrey Kirui, Gideon Kipketer started to open a gap. 2-3 second gap at halfway now bigger at 1:10.
Our steeple recap is coming but big news is we talked to Conseslus Kipruto one on one and he was very forthcoming saying he's only done one track workout at all since the Kenyan Trials. Otherwise it's just been jogging. His ankle has been a big concern. He looked good today winning his heat and he said his ankle bugged him on his first water jump but felt better as race went on.
The big news with Jager besides him looking like a boss was his goatee. He said he looked at himself in the mirror 15 minuteshad to go to track and didn't have time to fully shave so he left a goatee. He said it will be gone for final.

Stanely Kebenei who ran 8:08 in Monaco was very confident. He said the goal in Monaco was 8:05 but now that he's run under 8:10 he knows he's one of the top guys.
Hillary Bor was disappointed when he found out he missed final by one spot
Ezekiel Kemboi made the final on time but did not talk to the media. Former Olympic champ Brimin Kipruto did not make the final.
While the marathon is past half point we are watching Paul vault qualifications... grrr
Hawkins back in 9th @29s at the 25k mark. Tola and Kirui lead.
Is Zambian Kabange Mupopo (winner of her heat in 400m) actually a female? She has a T-shirt like guys, and no bra at all
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
