We have a cabin that a family let’s us use for free. It’s not super close to anything so most of the down time is spent playing board games, card games, watching movies, hanging out.
I do some team talks about racing strategies and why we do the type of training we do.
We do make a few trips including daily drives to the river to soak our legs after the afternoon run (snow melt, brrrr!). Many of the kids end up swimming on these days. We make a couple of trips down into Lake Tahoe. One of the trips is to run at the 1960 XC ski facility and the. We spend the rest of the day at the lake.

When I was in high school some of us went to an XC camp that was like 4 or 5 days. There were 6 cabins that we stayed in. We had this game that we called "power of the pylon." The premise of the game and the rules were pretty easy but it was a lot of fun.
Each cabin made up a team. Basically, we put an orange pylon that we had for drills in the middle of the field. Someone yelled "go" and we had to sprint to get the pylon and it then needed to be put on the top of the cabin. Once it was on top of the cabin it had to be protected so that other teams couldn't get it and put it on top of their cabin. It evolved into a violent game and I remember a few guys getting hurt and falling off of cabins. Needless to say, the counselors and coaches didn't sanction the game and once they found out what we were doing they put the kibosh on it. The coaches' cabins were in a different area of the camp and they could hear us hooting and hollering at all hours of the night and that is how they found out about the game.

Speaking about games, I like table games like Mafia, Alians, Poker with friends. But now during the Corona period found something I can do by myself, from time to time https://www.theladycrypto.com/expert-area/the-most-reliable-bitcoin-dice-strategies/. Don't know if you have heard about it...But quite engrossing.

Next week I'm taking my high school xc team to a team camp for the first time. What are some games that you know of or things you have bought that your team has enjoyed at your camps?
Uno
(Euchre if your in Michigan)
We are always playing poker or blackjack and it became kind of a tradition. So now we are all striving to be the best at it (and obviously not to lose our money lol) so I'm also 'practicing' online at

Let's just say I'm not losing anymore at our camp gatherings haha
I spent my free time awkwardly hitting on, then getting rejected by the females attending xc camp then listening to punk rock, then plotting the next days revenge run power by pure hate. It was glorious. Now all those Adam’s fools work for the guy who works for me.
Have you tried "books?" It's a thrilling game involving written pages--or "E" or "audio" formats. And, if you are resourceful, you can get them on your so-called smart phone, with a library card # and a library (they still exist!) Unlimited thrills and facts and stories for every interest.
The only guaranteed way to entertain and educate yourself in one activity! The only guaranteed way to increase you I. Q.!
Get some while they last.
You'll thank yourself later.
Baggo
You can play anywhere and anyone can throw a darn bag. Also, it’s a competitive activity but doesn’t involve any running. As others have said you’re probably gonna do a lot of running at camp. Running games on top of that are recipe for injury disaster. You can even set up a baggo tournament. See who on the team has a set and get as many as you can. Probably quite a few do. It’s very popular rate now. If not at least buy one yourself.
