I'm skeptical about this, because there was a lot of controversy around the 800m selection for Kenya. It could be a honorable dive.
Either way, this is no way for a King to go out.
That's a wrap then. I can't see him being available for the Olympics or the 2019 WC

Agreed - I'd be so disappointed if we never see him run a fast race again. Hopefully he does though
Now Rudisha is out, no excuse for not selecting Saruni. Otherwise if I was a Saruni I would start working on my Bahrain citizenship. Once you get on the wrong side of AK u generally stay there. They really have the ability to destroy careers.

How strange is it that just a year later, NONE of the three medalists from Rio are even in the world championships? Rudisha, Makh, Murphy, all out for different reasons.
Not that strange. Same deal happened in the 800 from 2012 to 2013.
The title will be won by Amos. He is a NOPer.

No he's not.

I suspect a honourable dive too. He had stated more than once that AK should pick between him and Ferguson.

It's very complicated. Are you ready for a very long-winded answer?
Because Kenya was so unfortunate to have been colonised by the British therefore English has equal status with Swahili in our constitution. While the majority of the masses may prefer to communicate in Swahili amongst themselves, you'll hardly see anyone read a Swahili newspaper as English supersedes it in official and formal settings. Most Kenyans are at least bilingual (or trilingual if you count tribal languages) to an extent; Proficiency or difficulty with English is one of the surest class indicators. Many, depending on their social background and environment are more comfortable with one over the other. If someone struggles with English, it can tell you a lot about their background, where they grew up, the kind of school they attended etc,
Given most of our athletes don't come from well-off backgrounds (Rudisha grew up herding goats) you'd expect them to be more at ease speaking Swahili or their tribal vernacular (which Kenyans refer to as "mother-tongue", even for those who grew up in the city and can't speak it) than someone like say, a Betsy Saina, who I heard/read grew up middle class in Eldoret. There's also a sports divide where you find rugby, for example, is played and followed by the middle-classes and that can be clearly discerned when talking to the players.
Then you have odd cases like Ferguson Rotich who can't seem to express himself fluently in either language. Kalenjin (tribal mother tongue) appears to be his primary language.
So, why are they speaking English? Probably because the piece is for the prime time news (9:00 pm) which is in English across all channels. Swahili news is at 7:00 pm. Though it shouldn't matter because Kenyans switch between both languages and frequently. There won't be a voiceover or subtitles if someone speaks Swahili on the English news or vice versa.

You consider Murphy not making the team as more fundamental than the injury.... that kept him from making the team? You have the logical capacity of a 7-year old SJW
Ah, so you are "that type" of individual. I'm sorry I ever responded to you, and I'm sorry you exist.
+1
Didn't Rudisha leave his lifelong coach this year? Why?
