he's gonna git rekt
I hope he goes for a yuge win in the prelim!
I think this makes sense since he would have placed like 8th or 9th for the US champs.
Why the "?"? It's a done deal.
Semantics are trivial. I thought it was an interesting topic, I am inquiring more about it and looking for good discussion.
It's time to ditch the speedsuit. imo wearing a speedsuit for anything over 800m makes you look like a fool.
I think that he could run sub 8:20 this year at least, which would potentially put him 6-8 in the final. He has a good kick, and he did run his 8:26 (first 3k steeple he ever did) the day after he ran his 13:49 5k

How many move to the final?
He is emulating the testicular fortitude of his brother:http://ifollosports.com/sites/default/files/u1494/Henrik-ingebrigtsen.jpg

I think like 12 from two heats, don't quote me on that though

Jakob makes the final, places 6th in 8:18.20
I mean, no one is expecting a top placement of any kind. But he qualified and it's a good experience to participate in a big championship like this without much pressure.

Ha. You think 8:18 will make 6th in London? Already Jager, Kipruto, Kemboi, Bor, Kebenei, El Bakkali, Birech, Kigen, Haileselassie, Wale and maybe Kipruto have run faster and will run faster at worlds this year. There are still many more I can't think of off the top of my head but I'm very sure that they will beat Jakob. He's still an impressive runner for 16yo.
I think it is great. To develop you have to race better athletes.
No one expects him to get a medal.
This is all about learning.

Why wouldn't you want to run the best race possible? Even if you go out in the first heat you get the experience of everything leading up to the race which can only help you when you in your 20's and trying for a peak performance.
Looking at the last few WC 3000sc results
2009- 817 10th in final
2011- 8.22 10th in final
2013- 819.99 10th in final
2015- 821 10th in final
Most of the qualifying is in the 8:25 or under range just to get to the final.
Based upon the 3k sc the day after the 5k and other various things including the 356 earlier.
He should be able to get into the final. I am pretty sure no one thinks 826 at this point is completely diving into the well.
Its a great learning experience for the equivalent of a Junior in US HS terms, think about that.....he just doesn't have the racing chops to get to the final IMO....not many guys can run their 2nd lifetime 3k ST and make the world final....let alone a 16 year old who really has modest flat PRs in comparison to the field. Plus Senior Championships are a different beast. Still very cool stuff!!!! No knocks on him but I find it hard to believe he'll make the final. Best of luck to a BOY who is on fire and pushing all sorts of limits! Keep it rolling Jakob!
Obviously hellenes doesn't follow Track & Field at this level. It's the World Championship, not a sub-8:00 attempt. However, if I were Evan Jager, I would make it a sub-8 attempt and secure the Gold.

This kid shows what babies US runners are on all levels.
he has raced more this season than most US athletes will race or coaches will want them to race in a lifetime and yet he keeps on getting better and I am sure will have a long career
