1. A beer bottle thrown at me by a redneck in Texas. Very nearly hit me, happened quickly and really only a little scary after I had time to process it.
2. Running early one Sunday morning and a coyote launched at me multiple times. Each time I had to stop my run and yell at it. It probably came for me about half a dozen times. Thankfully it never came close enough to bite and did finally stop stalking me, also in Texas.
3. Recently running on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere in Oregon. I’d run this road a few times with no problems. There are a few houses/shacks along the way. The last time I ran it I looked up and saw a lady with lab, I’d never seen anyone walking, running or biking out there before but still no big deal I figured. Then out of one of the shacks came four more dogs. Two massive pit bulls and another smaller dog as well as the lab mix. None of them had collars and she had no control of them. The lab mix was very aggressive and came at me. One of big pits started to circle me and come close. Thankfully he wandered away. I held the aggressive lab mix off with a stick I grabbed.
To my relief they all finally walked up their driveway into there shack and I continued my run. This was my most scary running experience. If one of the dogs snapped at me and the rest joined in I’d have been in big trouble. I’ve never run there since.
