Or. Something running fans seem to dismiss is that conference is way more important to the school than NCAA championships.(unless you are competing for a Team title,,, not an individual title). So he probably had McDonald run before he was ready to because it was conference. He was keep from racing early not because of NCAA, but because he might get reinjured before conference and that would cost them points.
This is a fair point. If you aren't a top national program, the AD is looking at the conference meet to judge how the head coach is doing. Wisconsin hasn't exactly been lighting up the B1G on the track in the past couple years. Without Morgan's 10 points, they would have been well down in the back half of the conference this spring. Instead, they were a respectable 4th.
