I'm assuming she is Catholic. Is she not?

Did he say she wasn't Catholic?

She's at least as Irish as Farah is British.
Farah moved to England as a child. He's not English? What, not white enuff for you?
Would the fact moved to Ireland (at the age of just 3) from another country be mentioned in the headline if she was white?

Lots of people here complained about Alistair Cragg, even though unlike her, he was part Irish.

No it wouldn't. This thread is one of the most blatant proofs that the people that run this site are racist whether they realise or not.
The article does not make any deal out of the girl being born in Nigeria. It's a tiny side detail that Letsrun.com has pulled out and made a ...thread about.
It's disgraceful. How they can call themselves real journalists I don't know. Just a bunch of forum trolls with a web 1.0 site.
Look at all the guys getting their panties bunched up, crying "racist!" at every other post.
The biggest haters of all are the finger pointers. It's a full-time job defending and hating.

Do you think genetics don't matter and her Nigerian heritage is coincidental? Maybe there's a reason everyone comes here to read track news rather than a certified "real" newspaper...

Being born in Nigeria has nothing to do with it, no.
Also 'genetics' in the sense that you imagine, don't matter either.
The person that wrote this original post is suggesting there is something negative about Ireland's first sprint medalist being Nigerian born. There obviously isn't.
The real shame here is she won in 11.71 seconds!!!!! The USA and Jamaica have 14 year olds that would've crushed everyone.

Who is Sports Gene? I thought her name was Gina Akpe-Moses?

"Yesterday afternoon she won Ireland's first gold at the event in 12 years, sprinting to victory in 11.71 into a -1.4m/s wind. It made her the first Irish woman in history to win a European sprint title at U-20, U-23 or senior level.....Akpe-Moses was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to Ireland at the age of three. She took up athletics at eight, announcing her talent by running for St Gerard's AC in Dundalk."

First gold in the event in 12 years? This is news? Did you mean first gold in the U20 Euro Champs? I guess that would be newsworthy, but you would expect a small country like Ireland to have a short drought like that.
Do you guys follow track and field at all? At any level?

She moved to Ireland at the age of three, making her more of a native of Ireland than Bernard Lagat is an American, or Mebrahtom Kehflzighi, or Abdihakem Abdirahman, or Paul Chelimo, or Shadrack Kipchirchir, or Leonard Korir, or Stanley Kebenei.
I think all of these guys are great runners and fine Americans and they belong here and belong running here, show me that you turds do too by not posting this bullsh it with your moron comments.

Godwin's law.
'If I say *Idi Amin* was a turd...' Happy now? Racism is a real thing, but Godwin's whatever. I'm happy to admit I had to google it to know WTF your point was.

Now you're a racist for criticizing a black guy. And if you complain about me calling you a racist, then you're a hypocrite. See how this works?

'Guys getting their panties bunched up'. Getting a little gratuitous sexism and homophobia in there while standing up for some old fashioned "they're not like us" racism. It's a full time job being you.

Thank you for pointing out that men can wear panties too, and this shouldn't be used as an insult. Yay equality!
