Rising senior daughter was top-5 runner on XC last year, despite not loving the distance aspects of running. She had a pretty decent track season (broke a school record in a short sprint race) but had a bit of a falling out with the coaches after the season (long story).
It's now July and she is training for XC in the fall. The rest of the team has been running longer, steadier miles since before track season but since she was largely training with the sprinters, it's been hard for her to stay with her teammates. She feels very down on herself and unmotivated. Partly it might be senioritis and knowing that she is not going to be running XC in college, but partly she's probably just out of shape and getting back into shape is rough.
Any good motivational sites, books, mantras I can share with her to let her know she's going to be fine, even if summer training is getting to her?
So much of the grind is mental effort, isn't it?
