What's the deal with the black track athletes and wigs? One gal lost her hair in the long jump at the USAs or NCAA finals a few weeks ago, and today, Jasmine Stowers did a faceplant in the 100m Hurdles and flipped her wig.
It's fairly comical.

My ex-wife (GER) owns a hair salon. Women of all races and ethnic groups wear wigs and hair pieces. 40% of all women past age fifty have thinning hair/bald. Since we have an image of what hair texture black women usually possess, we often feel we can easily recognize wigs on black women. I promise you, there are women of every ethnic group wearing wigs and you have no idea.

Well, nice rationalization. We're talking about women who aren't even 30, yet. -
A wig is just a surreptitious hat.

You must be age 14. I assume you have not had a girlfriend yet. Females in there teens and twenties wear wigs or hair pieces often. Females want to have a different hair color to match a dress. A female may have short hair, but when said female goes to a formal occasion wants long hair. Why am I explaining this? I assume you have female cousins if you do not have sisters.

They don't typically wear extensions and or wigs. I have three sisters and daughters. Never have any of them or their friends ever worn any extension or wig etc. It's VERY much a black thing as they can't grow long hair unless they're mixed. -
Wrong. I clearly know wig/hair piece sales better than you know wig/hair piece sales. LetsRun has people participating all over the world. You are a person who is unfamiliar with wigs. Thank you for your opinion.

you sound ridiculous. white people wear wigs too. its not a black thing. its a you don't know what you're talking about thing
-
Can you show any evidence of this happenning to a white female? I have never seen it in all my years of coaching except for black women.

Really, name one white female track athlete who wears extensions or wigs? Almost ALL the black female track athletes have either extensions or wigs. 95% of the athletes on my college track team were black. Almost all wore hair stuff. You really think those black girls running around with long hair have real hair. Your naive -
I was waiting on one or more of you guys from the bible belt who do not allow your wives/daughters to wear wigs to demand that I make my ex-wife prove sale of wigs &/or hair pieces to white women. You guys want to start WWIII over wig sales to white women versus wig sales of wig sales to black women? How about we argue about politics, health care or something truly running related. I am not going search youtube for white women athletes wearing wigs. Why are women and wigs so important? I'm done!

How would you know if your sister(s) wears a wig or extensions??? - (let alone their friends)? Pipe down dumba...
It's more common for black women to wear weaves/wigs, but not uncommon for Asian and white women to wear them. -
them not having a wig fall off, does not negate the fact that white women wear wigs

What's "GER" mean? It must be quite important to your post. -
I'm WAY older than 14 and a competitive athlete and HAD NO IDEA black tracksters wore wigs unti today when I saw Jasmin Stower's come off when she took that horrible fall! I would think they would be heavy and hot and create drag. Wow what do I know!

With all due respect. I am moving on. I do not want to be a part of the wig/hair piece debate any longer.

I hear that some of those black women actually wear fake nails and fake eyelashes also. Crazy.
