This forum proves that cycling is more popular and interesting than running

Running is better.

This board is always loaded with threads about other sports during their respective seasons. Face it, running is pretty darn simple; there's only so much to say about it.

Its because this is a big board and there are no subforums. Track and off topic stuff are right there together.

letsrunners love talking about dopers. Hence they love talking about the tdf.

It's because of Froome's & Team Sky's unmerciful dominance in the TdF; it reminds people of the Armstrong & USPS/Discovery days...who would have thought.

Watching the TDF for the first time this year...much more exciting than any running event I have ever watched. My wife - neither a cyclist nor a runner - is into it, too. Incredible event.

TdF coverage has good commentating

It's a once a year event where all the big names show up

Something for everyone (sprinters, distance guys, climbers and often wrestlers)

Dare I say a wide variety of nationalities being represented? Not to be racist, but not like running where Kenya and Ethiopia dominate

Lots of strategy and tactics, beyond the usual TnF sit and kick

Athletes make big money

The podium girls

On the flip side, the women's tour gets virtually no attention. The podium guys must suck

Perhaps cycling is more interesting since there are more severe injuries. Road cyclists, e.g., frequently break bones. Interesting, yes, but less fun in that regard anyway for the competitors. Ask Lukas Verzbicas.

for those that aren't duathletes, as endurance athletes, runners can still easily appreciate elite cyclists if they try

Eritreans are going to take over cycling some time in the next 15 years, however. Once they get some sponsorship $ and once they start doping it's all over for the europeans.
