I was drug tested two or three times in my life out of competition and I don't think I wrote it in my training journal. Maybe I should have. People are different. But why would I need to write it down especially now where it's all in an online database? Anyone know how many times Jager was drug tested in 2016? Probably 5 to 20 times? Sure some people may write it down but he also could just look it up online.
I'll grant you with today's technology Jager has a good likelihood of determining if he was tested that day. He doesn't seem to think he was but leaves some room for error. Maybe he keeps records, but it's not on there so he's confused of how he's on that date.
So is your logic a) he knows 100% certain he wasn't tested but is leaving open the possibility he was? How does that help him?
b) He knows he was tested, but will pretend he wasn't so when they show he was tested, he looks like a liar?
I don't see how a) or b) help him. So I'll go with c) he's confused as to what's going on.
I was talking to a guy I know today in the sport before Jager's statement came out. I said I'd be curious what Jager's response was. He agreed. I said if he was super aggressive and what not I'd be really suspicious. If he tried to focus on one thing I'd be suspicious. Guy must have just read Jager's statement.
He texted me, "Whether or not Jager is doping, his statement is the best statement I’ve ever seen in this situation."
"It’s basically what you said today."
I then just wrote back "what did I say?", not totally getting what he was getting at.
Goes on to say, "that if he was guilty he’d be very aggressive in his denial and make claims that clearly can’t be proven wrong (e.g., “I have never failed a drug test.â€)"
"But his seemed very genuine and as if he truly was surprised to see his name on that list. And it was written in a way that sounded like him, not his agent or someone else. "
Obviously the statement in of itself doesn't mean anything as anyone could be doping and my friend acknowledged that ("Whether or not Jager is doping"). But he said he found the statement believable.
It's why we need a stringent doping system we can trust in.
