No, it isn't. Not for all 800 runners. Lipsey doesn't have very good 400 speed, so she may train longer, but 400--->800 types don't need to.

The constant and unnecessary doping accusations are ruining the sport and have made these message boards boring. I love this sport and many others like it but running (letsrun.com) is the only fan base that actively looks to attack and tear down it's top athletes. Whether outright stupid accusations or the bad reporting and editing purposefully done by the Letsrun crew.
It's a fear of commitment; it's like fearing your favorite music artist lip-syncs or has a ghost writer.

The only racist on here is you.
Unfortunately, it does feel like African-Americans being in distance events pisses some folks off. It is not racist to point that out. These boards have borne that out on multiple occasions.
However, everybody needs to get used to it and celebrate more American talent moving into the 800m and 1500m.Look at Nationals. I think everybody needs to just get used to African Americans being involved and winning the 800 meter.
Also, if you haven't been watching at the Youth level for AAU and USATF, what you'll notice is more African-Americans participating in the 800m, 1500m and 3000m. This is beautiful because the tactics in these races will change.
I think this trend is going to pick up as Ajee, Charlene, and Raven continue to be successful.
It's "Raevyn", wonderbread.

Thank you. I certainly didn't intend to misspell her name.
No, PR was 2:00.6 her first 3 few years as a professional.

Get out.
Here is one counter example. Lebron James. The best basketball player on the planet receives more attacks and vitriol than anyone else.
Get your head out of the sand.
coach elliot is a nice guy but ncaa 800 isn't iaaf 800 he does a good NCAA job the runners get comfortable and stay with him ie Latavia thomas,Goule, lipsey befor she left The trinidadian girl but you cant beat the 800 crop without distance base i agree wholeheartedly
ok so lets make this clear the days of being a US champ with no speed and moderate distance base are gone here comes those damn african americans!
Charlene Lipsey, I wish you tremendous success!
So you mean ELliott having his runners do 6x1k or 80+min long runs, wasn't distance enough for Lipsey?
Don't fall for the narrative. If "mileage" was all that was needed to drop from 2:00.6 to 1:57.3, then what happened to Brenda or Alysia or Laura Roesler?

Lawl if you think Lipsey ever ran 80 consecutive minutes at LSU.
