The U.S. invades the country, then is upset when an Afghani kills an intruding soldier?
It seems people are ok with this. Just another reason why the entire planet hates Amerikkka.

Totally agree on the child soldier/indoctrination piece. Scary that people gloss over this very seminal point.

It is unknown whether Omar Khadr has reformed his ways or is practicing the art of taqiyya, by lying to authorities in order to improve his situation and land a sweeter deal. What is known is that his family members in Ontario have not reformed their extremist views one iota over the years.
"In that same interview, Friscolanti found that most of the four Khadr siblings have continued to rally “against the evils of the same Western world that signs their welfare cheques†after their father’s death. “[Omar’s] sister muses about martyrdom,†he reported, “then discusses her plans to go to university.â€
Canada gave Khadr's father a second chance:
"Meanwhile, others may be weary of the goverment making the same mistake that Jean Chrétien made with Khadr’s father Ahmed, who was tied to the 1995 terrorist bombing of the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad that killed 16 people. The then-PM helped to free Ahmed and bring him home to Canada. A year later, he was back in Afghanistan with two of his sons living in the same compound as Osama bin Laden."
Oops!
The bottom line is that, apart from the fact that he murdered an American medic and blinded another, Khadr was building IEDs to blow up soldiers. How do you think that a Canadian soldier, who's had both of his legs blown off feels, knowing that Khadr is receiving $10.5 million from the Canadian government, whilst the maximum that they can claim for their injuries, suffered while in service to their country, is 370? thousand or thereabouts?
15/16 year old kid is tortured in Guantanamo Bay for at least 2 years until he agrees to plead guilty to the charges brought against him and gets to leave. A panel of 5 biased military judges set out to show Guantanamo is effective, sentence him to 8 years jail.
Later he sues and protests previous innocence.
Interesting when you spin it the other way

Are you implying that he was not involved in IED making and didn't throw the grenade that killed Sgt. Speer? Since he has been released, he has apologized for hurting Sgt. Speer's loved ones (he has never apologized for killing Speer, however). Why would he apologize as a free man if he's innocent?
If he suffered at Guantanamo and doesn't believe that it was justified, based on his own actions, he should be laying the blame at the feet of his radical, jihadist family, who put him in that position - not the Canadian government, who played no role whatsoever in what he may have experienced at Guantanamo. He could make a better case against the U.S. Government for their use of torture, but he would never win such a lawsuit.
I'm not aware of him suing his family, but then I guess that they would be unable to pay much of a settlement, seeing as how they're all reliant on Canadian tax-payers, who foot the bill for their monthly welfare checks.

The Khadr family are not from Afghanistan, but are on a religious crusade against the West and saw the country as a battleground for their chosen ideology. Additionally, one can make a strong case that the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was justified, given the event preceding it and the Taliban's refusal to set things right by clamping down on terrorism and handing over Osama Bin Laden to the U.S.

Firstly... according to the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner, you have to be under the age of 15 to be considered a "child soldier." Khadr was almost 16 when he murdered Speer.
Secondly, while Khadr's rights were violated in Guantanamo, the Supreme Court ruled that Canada had no obligation to repatriate him. Why did we bring him back to Canada, again, considering both his individual actions as well as the political views/actions of his entire family?
Thirdly, no court ordered Justin Trudeau to make this settlement. He did this of his own volition. His lawyer can ask for $20 million until the cows come home. It is hard to imagine any court awarding such a substantial settlement given the circumstances and any real leader would do anything in their power to stop a check from going out.
It's too late to do anything to stop this now. The terrorist scumbag quickly cashed his ill-gotten check, courtesy of Trudeau and the Canadian taxpayer.
If anybody who reads this thread would like to help support Speer's wife and orphaned kids, who are growing up without their father, you can do so here:

This country is on a "quest" to invade, bomb, and kill citizens of every country that doesn't live up to the almighty Amerikan standards. The trade center attack and other acts committed on U.S. soil are retaliation for this government imposing its will on others.
The sooner our government looks to help our impoverished citizens rather than sending aid to other lands......or killing the people there, the better off we would be.
What a joke!
Who failed who first: Canada, which gave the Khadr clan chance after chance and continues to dole out welfare to a family that hates Western values, or Omar Khadr, who constructed IEDs to blow up Canadian soldiers and took the life of an American medic?
He doesn't deserve any compensation but, if he did, do you really think that he deserves 30 times the amount given to a hypothetical soldier who had both of his legs blown off by one of Khadr's IEDs?
Articles like the above are why I'm glad that the MSM is dying.
Absolutely hilarious that you try and pretend Muslims invented and are the only humans that lie. Practicing taqiyya. What a right wing moron you are.
Sorry to trigger you, snowflake, but Muslims are not permitted under the Quran to lie to fellow Muslims. "Taqiyya" refers specifically to the practice of lying to non-Muslims in order to "advance the cause of Islam - in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them."
This is why I chose to use the word "taqiyya" instead of "lie."
Understand?

The author of that article looks like she escaped from a mental ward.
It's very telling that the Globe and Mail felt compelled to remove huge quantities of comments below the article, despite the left-leaning readership of the vast majority of their audience. Media that doesn't attempt to obfuscate the truth in order to push an ideological agenda would have no need to censor comments to such an extent.
She deliberately misinforms her readers by suggesting that Khadr may not have thrown the grenade and only confessed due to torture (he apologized for hurting Speer's family after he became a free man and was no longer under duress). She calls him a child soldier but, as has already been pointed out, he doesn't meet the U.N's own criteria for this label. Even the long list of torture methods that she lists isn't substantiated with evidence. Was Khadr subjected to all of these techniques or were they used against different prisoners? She completely omits any reference to his family, who remain dedicated to violent jihad, even after the death of their father... not exactly balanced reporting.

Yes, and note that the CBC has disabled all comments, as well as the like/dislike buttons from their youtube videos on the Khadr case.
Now why ever would they do that, I wonder...
Oh wait, here's one that still has likes and dislikes (1:10 ratio). Comments are, of course, disabled.

CBC seems to be saying that the only torture that Khadr was subjected to in Guantanamo was sleep deprivation. I've seen this claim made before, but accounts have varied, depending on the media source.
Pretty sure if there was documented video of him killing 30 people his supporters would still say he was just an innocent child soldier due compensation.

One question you should ask yourself is...
If someone offered you 10 million dollars but you had to spend the next ten years in a maximum security prison, often in solitary and some ambiguous torture - Would you take that deal?
At what point do you except this deal for 10 years of your life? 20 Million? 50 Million? Everyone would have a price.
I'd say for 10 years and 10 million hes getting the short end of the stick and we should just let him be. He was clearly brain washed as a kid - See Megan Phelps Roper (Westboro baptist church) - He has most likely learned his lesson.
Trolling?
Honestly, who cares? It was a US medic, not a Canadian medic. Sure, that's a scummy thing to write. America is constantly doing injustices. Did Vietnamese agent orange victims receive any compensation? Did the family of the terrorist's daughter who died in the recent raid receive any? The Haditha massacre victims' family only got a few thousand in compensation. Where it's the outage for these people?
It sucks that this guy gets that much money. Let's learn from it and do a better job in the future.

Personally, my outrage is partially rooted in the fact that my tax dollars are paying for this settlement... as our federal government runs massive deficits, no less. At a certain point the citizens of Canada need to collectively stand up and say: "enough's enough!" Hopefully that's happening, now.
As Gad Saad points out, there are more than 150 Canadians - some of them under age 18 - fighting for ISIS in Syria. Can they now claim, after renouncing Canada and committing war crimes, that they were brainwashed in order to escape justice? If they're imprisoned by our allies and treated poorly can they then sue Canada for millions of dollars? Canada didn't send them to fight in Syria, just as we didn't send the Khadrs to fight in Afgnanistan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1ywY7Zcen0...Anyways, the more that this thread gets bumped, the greater the chance that people will donate to Speer's kids (more than $35K raised over the last 3 days).
Thought I'd bump the thread again and post a link to another (current) example of the extreme propagandistic and brainwashing nature of CBC's coverage, since people have used the CBC to defend Khadr.
Check out this video by the CBC (84 likes to 1,783 dislikes thus far and no comments allowed):

Now here's the truth (3,537 likes to 50 dislikes and comments allowed). Also, note that Ezra, the founder of the Rebel is Jewish, so I rather doubt that he'd employ Gavin McInnis, who is married and has three children with a First Nations woman, if he's an anti-semite, as the CBC alleges. The CBC uses Saul Alinsky tactics to try and destroy a person's reputation, rather than refuting arguments they can't win.

The CBC is a national disgrace! I'm almost more embarrassed that more than a billion dollars are stolen from taxpayers every year to subsidize this propaganda than I am that Khadr was awarded $10.5 million!

No, you moron, everyone lies! This guy is lying to get himself $10 mil and get out of jail, not to 'advance Islam'. He's just a criminal that is lying to get out of trouble, his religion/supposed beliefs has no part whatsoever!
So every lie told by a Muslim is 'taqqiya' which is some dark manifestation we should fear but all the other lies said by every other human are simply 'lies' and have no scary title or ominous connotations?
Absolute insanity! It's like you think he is a witch casting spells!
