There are three energy systems:
Alactic, Anaerobic, and Aerobic Systems.
(You can divide them up, but this is basic biology)
The alactic system is usually ignored by distance coaches to their demise.
Football and baseball teams use this energy system almost exclusively. They run repeated sprints of 40 yards or so with very little rest.
But you can also train it by running 4 x 80 meters (or shorter distances) with full recoveries. In that sense it's also to develop speed.
When you do 10 X 200 it's not really "speed," work as many claim. I suppose you could do broken 200s and part of the workout might be considered speed development. But you might also overwork the neural pathways which can take weeks to rebound.
If I were you I would do 4 X 80 with at least a 3 minute walk recovery between each. You want a full rest for the next repeat so you can run it fast!
You might even try 5 x 60 if you are not getting good turnover. Consult a sprint coach on acceleration, form, and mental approach to sprinting. Do one sprint workout a week. The next day is a recovery run of less than 5 miles!
