Am I going to commit an NCAA violation by doing this?

I'm no expert, but until someone else chimes in, I will just say that you definitely cannot have the coach pick up your breakfast tab. If you go to breakfast, make sure you get a receipt that shows that you paid for your own meal.

I do not believe NAIA has recruiting rules, so it may be legal. Just ask the coach. He should know.

He also needs to follow NCAA rules if hes' considering running for an NCAA school.

They can pay for your meals on a campus visit, and they can buy you a meal on a home visit.

Also, no one cares. If he got you hookers and blow it would be a violation, but the NCAA still isn't going to investigate some 4:20 miler.

No problem. If you get caught just invoke the Rupp Rule -- just pay back the $6.95 and all will be forgotten.

I have no idea about NAIA recruiting rules, but the internet is pretty good.

Interesting issue re NCAA. Not sure how a NAIA coach coming to run with the kid would affect any NCAA rule as long as the kid is not getting money or something. The NAIA coach is not violating a NCAA rule since he is not at a NCAA member school.

Sounds like this coach might want to violate more than jus the NCAA rules!

I'm pretty sure even if something here was against the rules, it would be the coach who would get shit for it, not the recruit. The recruiting are there for coaches to follow, not the athletes.

It should be fine if you just don't run your mouth about it...

This is correct. Seeking clarification of NCAA rules and bylaws is a violation. If we don't keep member schools in the dark, we couldn't enforce heavy fines for using improper bagel toppings.

But if you want to commit rape, sexual assault, domestic violence, assault, burglary, possession of controlled substances, etc. feel free to. Nothing in the bylaws about that.
