So he just turned 20. That means he ran sub 4 basically as the same age as a college sophomore. All these guys are so much older than past sub 4 hs runners that breaking 4 in hs has lost it's glamour.

He broke 4 twice when he was 18... I don't think many college sophomores are 18.

LaGrande is a nice town. If you are into hunting and fishing it's paradise. It's a long ways (280 miles?) from Portland.
From a running perspective I don't know much. There is a little altitude - maybe 3000'. I did two workouts there about 10 years ago (not much of a runner, at that time about a 40-minute 10K guy) it seemed like the track was something you would see at a medium to medium-large high school. On other sports, EOU is often in the bottom of the local NAIA league.
I am a little bias, since I was born in LaGrande, but I believe Coach Welch is one of the best in the business. He will bring this young man along at a great rate. I look forward to seeing this kid develop.
I am confident that Slag is attending classes at EOU and running for them, and will be coached by the coach there. He was not looking to just let his HS coach coach him.
The word is biased.
Correct, he will be attending classes and running in La Grande, according to his own words, not Letsrun message posters.

That may be a change from what was originally planned, but from knowing all parties involved, I have no doubt that his high school coach is going to still be very involved and had a role to play in his leaving Penn State. His coach's ego is getting in the way of his long term development.
If you really think that, you obviously know very little about the parties involved. Stop making ridiculous speculations about Slag's coach.
Alright, I'm going to put this whole thing to rest.
I currently run for EOU And I can tell you for sure he is not going to be coached by his high school coach. He chose the school because two people he went to highschool with are running for eou already; Josh walking, and lane Inwards. Inwards is one of Michaels very close friends. That was a huge motivating factor. As well, Ben Welch is a very very good coach, and I'm confident he largely made his decision based on coach welch's merrits. He even coached the sprinters this year after the old sprints coach left; We did pretty good considering he was juggling several groups of athletes. Allot of pre-existing injuries are the issues my team has, but Ben has been the best coach to work those injuries out with. I'm injury free now because of him.
Either way, we're ecstatic to have Michael, and I know we can bring out the best possible athlete in him. I've met him, and he's really happy with EOU, so quit speculation.
Hi.
Do they teach basic grammar and composition at EOU?
