Probably going to be a bunch sprint today.
You're probably right...the sprinter's teams will start chasing soon and chew up the breakaway.

100km remaining and breakaway is down to only a 6:20 lead
they are catching up about a minute every 20km
pack isn't even in a hurry, they know they are going to roll over him in the last 10k
pack: 46kph breakaway:42 kph

Sky have been busted for widepsread abuse of corticosteroids and testosterone this year. Now all what needs to be revealed is use of EPO/blood doping and you bave a carbon copy of the US Postal/Discovery cycling program.
That would be a shame if that's all true. 😔 Froome's a nice guy, a real gentleman, a modest champion ...not like that repugnant Lance Armstrong. I got fed-up with that tough guy Armstrong for all those years...he brought a pro-wrestling attitude to cycling and stunk up the joint for 7 yrs.
I hope you're wrong. I'd like to see Froome win a few more and retired as the undisputed all-time Tour winner ðŸ‘.

Froome does seem like a decent guy. But being a nice guy and doping in cycling are not really realted to each other. Indurain seemed like a nice guy too but don't think for one second that he was clean.
just dropped under 5 minute lead at 85km to go
I assume the pace will pick up radically on the last 20km and then "sprint" the last 10k ?

That's true about Big Mig. He's another gentleman, nice guy & modest champion. But they don't have anything on him...he's kept quiet about any doping that he may have done. And there's no positive tests, no bans, no stripping of titles, etc. Big Mig is a hometown hero and there's even a race named after him. Because Big Mig is a decent guy....no body picks on him. Same with Froomey, a super nice guy where the media doesn't pick on him. Lance failed to learn this lesson when he was running around being a tough guy and AH...who would have thought.
4 minutes @ 60km almost exactly and distance is plummeting
it's funny how he doesn't seem to be going very fast when the camera is right on him but when they pull back, wow he is flying @ 48kph
invisible aerobars all the way
The thing about race radios is it makes every day a procession. The first hour is interesting. A break forms. Then the gap is closed to about the last maybe 5K.
Yawn.
found the stage1 TT from July 1 on strava, at least for the riders who share
fascinating stuff - you can then go through them and see the other stages as well - it's hilarious when they leave it as "lunch ride" and "rode with 52 others"

stage 8 is underway and wow today is going to finally be exciting other than the finish
they are HAMMERING and breakaways already seem to be testing the waters
check out the elevation gains - and it's a summit finish, kinda

You seem to know stage racing?
Look at the photo finish from the last stage 7. (below)
Look closely at the wheels, they're using carbon fiber spokes.
Photo's don't lie, but doesn't it look like the body of the rider
is exerting some bend/torque in the spokes?

Here's another image with other riders. Same effect.

Are the wheels torquing?
that is probably the same effect from the electronic shutter on the camera that you see when people take photos of airplane propellers that are rotating quickly and appear to be bending
remember how I was asking the first day if there was a better fan-made tracker? (now if I could just find an english stream today, ugh)
Is there a stream?
no streams in english today, at least not free
today is finally exciting too, not only is there a two person breakaway but two chase groups, the first being 14 riders, if they decide to misbehave, 14 is enough to completely destroy the pack
the 48 chasing them however, kinda means they are going to catch them and hold them back
kittel is 17 minutes back in the pack? is that even possible? why are they hiding him that deep
ah the two chase groups just merged, that's the end of that
another chance group of 5 has formed to follow the two
such a well done site: live.thetourtracker.com
it's updating faster than the stream
but why wrote:

He like most of the sprinters have trouble climbing. On the real high mountain stages, many of the sprinters just barely make the time cutoff. I'm surprised though that he's already cracking on a medium mountain stage; just wait until they get into the HC climbs...he could be in trouble of not making the time cutoff (without a tow anyway ðŸ˜).
oooh the little breakaway/chases have grouped together, now up to eight with a two minute lead
if they start cooperating, eight is just enough to beat the peloton
it looks like there is a chase of 40 riders forming but a climb is coming
this is finally a truly exciting day, I'm definitely going to watch a full replay in english later
about f-ing time! a breakaway wins because of the climb
climbers (skinny people!) for the win
Kittel is a whopping 18 minutes behind because of his huge ass (literally)
THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!
